Great day yesterday for the group ride. Cold but not too cold. I think there was about 10 in the group. My first time on Boyd Pond trail and it was a lot of fun. Thanks to John and the rest of the fellas for the encouragement and for leading a fun ride. A very windy/up and down trail...much different than the other trails I have ridden. I would recommend everybody give it a try.

I had not heard anybody mention that you can go to the Thurmond Dam visitor's center and get the flattened pennies that have a neat little design. I figured since I didnt know, I would pass it along in case others didnt. Me and the kiddos got a few. They are neat.

Thanks Bill for the info about this trail. I took niece and nephew for a trek yesterday afternoon and we had a great time. Took some pics to share. Poor little guy got trampled by Lynzie but he seemed okay. These were cool hanging off a fallen tree The kids really liked the big rocks Great view in the tops of the trees

This past Saturday me, Stacey, and Marco (considerately riding at our pace ) rode Great Wall clockwise and I think that took about an 1 hour 15 mins (thats with a short stop to move a fallen tree). Took a short snack break then we did Skinny clockwise and that was about 45 mins. Man what a great day. It was GORGEOUS!

Hahah JonT said stay high in that section but before I even had a chance to attempt to do that I found myself beginning to tumble down the hill. That trail was fun and tough. Glad I went and glad to see so many other people. Was a beautiful day. Thumbs up Julie on the pound cake!

I will be glad to take a stab at writing something up. Ill send it to you but please feel free to alter it in any way, or scrap it in its entirety, if it is not what you are looking to say.

Ive only been riding about a year now. I had SPDs too for about 6 months and I hated them. I am back on platforms now and I am very happy...dont miss them at all. I was afraid of everything when I was clipped in and I just got sick of it playing with my head...it just wasnt even enjoyable to ride. Like bikerpanda I wanted to learn to love them because people say how great they are but 6 months was enough for me to realize that they arent for me. The way I see it is as long as I can have a good time on my ride and be confident and comfortable thats what matters. Maybe in the future after I have some experience under my belt I will consider clipless again but for now this works for me.

He was only a few miles from the lock and dam on that long straight away. Kim was assisting with the situation when I came by...she may know for sure. My only guess would be he hit some of the loose dirt and lost control. Not sure of his age but he was a "seasoned citizen" and more susceptible to injury from a fall.

Dale: A friend of the gentlemen who fell Sunday does spin with me. I asked him how he was.....shattered his hip and is still in hospital. I told Tom to tell him that folks were asking about him and wishing him well.

I take spin classes and it has helped tremendously....and its not as fruity as you might think. ;D A few times a week makes a big difference. You do sprints, endurance, heave seated and standing climbs and over the 45 minutes its a great cardio and leg workout. It is obviously not the same as being out riding but I can attest to its performance benefits.

Fingers and toes crossed! Only riding I've been doing is in my dreams and to the beat of the booty music in spin class. Hope the weather cooperates.

I have seen this milk in Earth Fare but havent tried it but next time I am there I will grab a jar. As for locally, there is a website www.augusta.locallygrown.net that is basically a co-op sorta thing were you can get locally grown produce, fresh eggs, and grassfeed beef from a farm in Washington, GA. I have never used this site myself but I love the concept.
