This is way off topic.
Have you seen the signs near Sportsman Corner advertising the local milk? Hickory Hill Milk in Edgefield is who I am talking about.
Well, it turns out I am driving up hwy 230 on Wednesday and see they are selling this milk at the Meriwether Community Center.
I stop and realize they are just setting up. I wait a minute or so, and then get a gallon of white and a gallon of chocolate. OMFG, the chocolate is simply off the hook good. I get the spiel on why you have to shake the milk (it's whole milk, non-homegenized (sp?)) and the cream is on the top.
The product is simply high quality. They told me it's about 45 minutes from the cow to the bottle. Since I live in Edgefield Co, the product never leaves the county!
While there, I spoke with another gal who raises and sells beef directly off her farm! When I try the beef, I'll report on it as well.
I like to support local businesses when I can. This is one I plan to support as I like the idea of giving my young kids hormone free milk. And they love it.
Every Wednesday night from 5-7 PM, they are selling the milk on Martintown Road at the Comminity Center. It is right next to the fire department and where SORBA CSRA held the party for the FATS Grand Opening a few years ago.
As I said, I pulled up and they were just getting started. By the time I talked to the milkman and the beef lady, I noticed about 12-15 cars had pulled in and people were buying the milk like crazy.
