Sorry folks, I don't know how I have missed this thread. Teds explanation of the current status of the Greeneway extension is accurate. The contract completion date is April 15, but hopefully should be sooner than that. The extension will terminate at Bergen Road with a new parking lot. The City also owns a few thousand feet of RR R/W north of Bergen road and is pursuing funding for that extension. This future extension will also include a "neighborhood connector" through The Village at Bergen Place and into Woodstone subdivision. Eventually this route will continue through Bergen Place out to Martintown Road.
The crossing of Bergen Road where the current extension ends remains a concern. This is a busy road with a 45 mph speed limit and poor sight distance. The conceptual plan includes a pedestrian underpass, but that comes with a high price tag.
Bill's opinion about the eventual extension out to "Northview Park" is also probably correct. The cost to secure the R/W would likely render the project cost prohibitive, not to mention the political backlash from all the condemnations that would be necessary. The Greeneway might get out there, but the former railroad will probably not be the route.
As far as single track at the activities center - that's not in any current plan. The conceptual plan for Northview Park does show some MTB trail. I'm just not sure there is sufficient acreage there. The focus out there right now is on a baseball/softball complex.

Man, that's crazy talk. I was going to be doing real good to get out there by 8, especially since I have all day to ride.

I was thinking about riding the Christmas Party route Saturday, but wasn't sure if the trails would be rideable. I actually have never ridden Keg and could use a guide to the Mistletoe connector.

Rode a couple of laps of Horne today before the rain. The trail is clear and in great shape. I can't believe there is still snow after 1 week. Attachments:

I almost bailed on the race when I heard it would be longer than last year - I'm glad I didn't. My personal high points: Spending about 5 minutes with the lead group (on Washington School Rd). Seeing the confusion among the "terriors of terror" as the group passed by. The top of Delaughter Road. Sag 2a (after running out of water on Delaughter). Catching up to Bill V at Sag 2b (that didn't last long though). Finishing the race, in the mix, on my "off the shelf", low-end, 10+ year-old Gary Fisher HT.

There will be a group of Jack Russells that will chase you on Price Mill Road. Just try to keep another rider between you and them.

It was a great day to ride. At 4-20, it was a little slower than I would have liked. I was solo and surprised to not see anyone on all 3 trails. The trails are all good, but if I were going to do any last minute maintenance, it would probably be Wine.

Yes, I recall some flagging where the trail turns away from the power lines to 632.

OK, let me start over. I'm planning to ride a route that starts at the Wine Creek trailhead, continuing on via Key Road/SC23 to Modoc, then the Price's Mill "connector" to Turkey and returning up Wine Creek. I will start no later than 8:00.

Assumption correct. I'm not sure about the "creampuff" part.

I'm planning to ride the lollipop tomorrow morning, starting at WC trailhead, no later than 8:00.

Rode Modoc and Turkey (via the connector) on Sunday. Modoc has a few "new" trees/large limbs down. The limbs were too big for me to move, but could be cut with a hand saw.

8 is about right riding Cold Springs. Add about 1.75, all uphill, if you stay on Key all the way to 23.

My plan is to start at Price's Bottom at about 9:00, ride the road to the Modoc trailhead, ride Modoc with the group, then continue on the connector to TC.

Although I rode the SMC last year (and plan to again this year), I don't know a whole lot about coordinating a race like this. I would like to help out any way I can.

I'll be there on Saturday. I would really like to make some progress on the bridge, even if it's just dis-assembly (if that's the best route).

I came home with someone's folding saw in my pack. Let me know how I can return it.
