Picked up a Salsa El Mariachi end of August. Holding up well, no complaints. Adventure by Bike! After Vassago, this may be the best head badge. A motto to live by

I have been riding Keg for 8 years and never seen the trail in such awesome shape. Great ride today. There are abut 4 or 5 non-riders out there but easy to get over between 22.5 and the top of Boulder Creek. Go ride what I call the anti-FATS trail of the CSRA.

Wish this event was in June when wet suits wouldn't be needed.

This, IMO, is a festival that can really grow in the CSRA. Many riders, trail runners, and open water swimmers in the area. It also screams an off-road triathlon.

Top road crossing of DS within 10 ft is a non-rider. Deep Step had a lot of wet spot, standing water, and peanut butter mud. I would avoid it. Lower sections of it are to wet. Big Rock and Tower had some wet/mud spots but was ridable. Saw some folks in the lot after riding Skinny, IT IS TO WET TO RIDE SKINNY! Their bikes and they were covered in mud.

I have used a trail-a-bike at Bartram from the dam to about mile mark 12 and also Skinny and Brown Wave. Only rode the tow path once with my daughter in tow. We have been using it for about 1.5 years now and my daughter is now riding Bartram on her own bike doing abut 6 miles with the rides slowly getting longer.
When you hit the single track for the first time take it easy. get used to the longer turn radius it takes. Need to remind them to hold on. The first time I rode the "Big Dip" at Bartram my wife and other daughters were yelling at us. Only to find out PK was fist pumping through the dip. Communicate with the little one in-tow, bumps/logs can catch them off guard. Also, make sure the little one is on the third wheel before you take off........don't ask.
Just a heads up, I did break one chain while pulling her but it was on my ss converted bike. Pretty sure if i had a dedicated ss chain it would not of happened.

Bartram, Keg Creek and Mistletoe are close. I always have a great ride on those. Check out the trail tab for plenty of info on the local rides.

Burg to Lake spring, 4 trees need a chain saw. 1. About 300 ft in (can duck but it is at head level) 2. Just before the first bridge, 15" diameter and at chest level 3. between keg Creek sign and airstrip 10" or so, easy to climb over. 4. near marker 2.5 6-8" and easy to climb over.
There is also about 6 spots that a handsaw and two people could wrestle it off the trail.

June looks interesting. Also "Take a Kid" is great. If you do not have your own (or the have moved along, invite one from church, neighborhood, etc. I am a firm believer we need to get kids on the trail, let it by hiking, running, or bike.

Simple concept. Fill in the blank and then tell us why this is your favorite trail in the CSRA. As a side note, each loop at FATS counts as its own trail. My favorite trail is Bartram. Call me lame, whatever? Yes it is flat, no down hills etc. But on the other hand I can go for a long ride with great scenery. Catch a sunrise See something unique Introduce a new thing but the best of all, ride with my girls

I would like to give a big thanks to Chain Reaction for sponsoring SORBA-CSRA and its trail work. I managed somehow to win the Chain Reaction/Shimano shoes which I picked up a few days ago. Besides Chain Reaction, big kudos to Southern Wheelworks, Outpoken, and Andy Jordan's for supporting mountain biking in the CSRA.
