Bought a Trail-a-bike from Chain Reaction yesterday and am excited to get my little one on it. He is learning to ride on his own on a Giant. But now we can take family rides and I am hoping riding this will help with his confidence. I was going to take him on the towpath numerous times to get used to it then "upgrade" to Bartram. What would yall say is the next step after Bartram?

I have used a trail-a-bike at Bartram from the dam to about mile mark 12 and also Skinny and Brown Wave. Only rode the tow path once with my daughter in tow. We have been using it for about 1.5 years now and my daughter is now riding Bartram on her own bike doing abut 6 miles with the rides slowly getting longer.
When you hit the single track for the first time take it easy. get used to the longer turn radius it takes. Need to remind them to hold on. The first time I rode the "Big Dip" at Bartram my wife and other daughters were yelling at us. Only to find out PK was fist pumping through the dip. Communicate with the little one in-tow, bumps/logs can catch them off guard. Also, make sure the little one is on the third wheel before you take off........don't ask.
Just a heads up, I did break one chain while pulling her but it was on my ss converted bike. Pretty sure if i had a dedicated ss chain it would not of happened.

It came in today and we took it to the park in Evans. Which was suprisingly not as crowded as I thought it would be at 6pm. My son absolutely loved it. I thought he would be scared the first time like most kids are, but he took right to it. Once I told him to pedal with his feet and not his body, the only way I knew he was back there was when he turned around to talk to everyone we passed, lol. We probably spent close to an hour going around that park. Next step will be the tow path a few times for him to get used to a bumpy ride(eventhough he did well when we went through the grass), then on to Bartram. Here is a link to a quick video my wife took. www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=683311177499&l=1783183331973903575

Awesome! Make sure you keep the tire pressure low when you take him off road, that'll smooth the ride out.
