I was up there Saturday and what I gathered was that the trail will be basically will be the same after the clean up with little if any trail loss. The new trail head will be a great addition to area with changing rooms, shelter, bike washing area, grilling/picnic area, and possible skills area.
There has been numerous times in the last year or so that the Burg lot has been full with riders, hikers, and trail runners with people parking in the overflow area. Also it will give the opportunity for demo days at Bartram. It may look ugly now but IMO will be very nice when completed.

Keg tread is in great shape, about 5 trees down from the point to bed rock crossing (where I turned around) The first real creek crossing going clockwise was deep with signs of very high water. As it was the creeks were flowing and was the reason why I turned around at bedrock creek (looked slick)
Hope folks will keep riding Keg as an out and back for the next year. Was so quiet out there with no car or boat noise.

Tree down near the Keg Creek sign (between the Burg and airstrip) Also about 100ft from the Sailboat Club Rd. along the race rout there are two large trees down. I have been riding the race route from Burg to the Sail Boat Rd. as of late to make a loop. Good riding.
Lake Springs is in good shape and the tread is solid. Some wet spots from the afternoon rains.

The tree down on Brown Wave is between brown wave proper (the big dips) and the bench.

This by far is my favorite EtTR of the year. Long Cane just rocks to ride and IMO is the real secret gem of riding in the CSRA. Trails offer a little of everything, some have a FATS feel to them while other sections are just old school.
This is not one to miss!

Georgia High School Cycling League georgiamtb.org/ might be something to look into. Kids can race as an independent or if you would like, you could help start a team. I am more then willing to help with a team if you do go that route.

Mistletoe and Bartram were in good shape. I have not ridden FATS since before Christmas. This winter has just been to wet.

At Mistletoe you pass the main office which has some drinks and snacks for sale. Not sure the hours of it though. Also a bathroom at the office which is on the outside. Close to Thurmond Dam there is a picnic area. Does have running water but not sure 100% if they are locked this time of year. Run close to Petersburg campground (year round) that you might be able to get water at.

I would say go for it. Been on Keg and Mistletoe and both of those trails are in good shape. Modoc being another old school trail should be fine also.....besides high water at the creeks.

Noticed the other day near Whole Foods that Half-Moon Outfitters will be opening up a store. Been to there Columbia store and found it to be a top notch outfitter for outdoor adventure. Really looking forward in seeing the store open and hopefully be successful in the area. Looks like it will hopefully open next week. blog.grassrootsoutdoors.com/?p=72685

Could I get verification that the course route west of Lake Springs (towards the dam) and bellow the dam are on Corp. of Eng. land. I personally have ridden that section because of my understanding of who owns that land.

Rode 10/13 from the 'burg to the big dip with my daughter. Two non-riders, first before mile 7 (just after the banked turns and the second between 8 and 8.5. Trail was in good shape.
