Paul, JP3, and I went up to Hickory Knob State Park and cleared drains on Lakeview Loop - in preparation for the XTERRA next weekend. Even with the rain on Friday, Lakeview Loop was largely dry. The wet spots were along sections of cupped trail or blocked drains, which, after a little work, were draining well. SORBAcsra plans to be at HKSP on Sunday to help assess trail conditions, should the weather not cooperate. We found this little guy in one of the streams crossing the trail. JP3 said something about lobster tonight?

SORBA-CSRA was at Hickory Knob State Park this morning at O'dark thirty, in case rain developed and trails expertise was needed for the XTERRA race today. Fortunately, no rain, cool temperatures, and Lakeview Loop was in great shape, if not dusty with pollen. We did see several familiar faces including our XTERRA friend Marcus Barton and CSRA locals Troy Miller, Chad Kimbrell, and Candace Zipf. A few action pics can be found on our FB page (no login required): HKSP XTERRA 2014.

Wish this event was in June when wet suits wouldn't be needed.

I rode HKSP Saturday and it needs some attention. A few trees down and a good bit of lopping are needed. I have a couple of others that are willing to help. Do I need to let anyone know if we go out and clean it up? It has been a few years since I have done any work at HKSP and didnt want to step on any toes. Thanks.

Thanks! Since you have an experienced crew help would be greatly appreciated. A lot of our focus has been on the upcoming Wildwood Games and we did squeeze in the annual Turkey/Wine mowathon recently. We need to make sure we keep the rangers at HKSP in the loop so feel free to contact me at sorba.csra@gmail.com and we can get something set up.
