Just wanted to pop in and say that the erosion on this road really pushed the limits of the minivan that I took out there today to ride Big Rock and Tower. There are quite a few parts that are washed out and in bad shape, the van made it through them fine but I do not believe my car would make it (Hyundai Elantra) You could park in the south lot and ride your bike to Big Rock and Tower I could, but i'm always severely time limited and don't want my wife to start hating or resenting my riding time. She's home alone with three girls, one of which is a week into potty training.

I just got into riding FATS in August, I'm definitely going to have to volunteer some trail work time. I've ridden all over the USA, and FATS is just a blast.

Couple trees down on lower skinny. One is a go under, the other 2 are rideable but probably not to the average FATer. They're in the area with all the dead/downed trees. The worst wash in all the 30+ miles of trail is also in that area. Failed trail maintenance is funneling all the water straight down trail, making or nearly unrideable. When I rode there Saturday, there was only one tree down on Skinny, and it certainly wasn't rideable unless you are some sort of a badass. It was up to my inseam, so, around 32" up. The go under was easy as well. There were only a few spots that were wet that need attention. There is an area in the powerline that is washed out very badly.

That sucks. Overgrown or did the expansion get it?

Thanks for the kind words Brando. I'll note most everyone in town is capable of installation. However, locally, the only Fox and Rock Shox certified service technicians are myself and my co-worker. We receive training twice per year by factory technicians as well as online. If you drop your fork off we can get it back to you the same or next day.(Possibly while you wait if we have time) Sorry for your pushy experience with our sales staff, but they are there to sell after all. Step beyond the threshold into the service area for a good time. -Todd
Since you are Rock Shox certified, I'll come see you today, assuming it arrives in time to bring the bike and shock down. If not, it'll be Wednesday around 3:45-4:00. For what it's worth, the sales staff and Andy Jordan's was far pushier and less helpful than Chain Reaction, and I never actually spent money in Andy Jordan's. Not to mention, Chain Reaction is a mile away.

When will something similar be available again? I've been riding with running shirts I've gotten at races, figured I would pick up a real jersey. We did an order a month or so before hunting season and can do another when there is enough interest from community. IIRC, minimum order is 7 or 8 jerseys.
Ok cool, thanks for the info. I'll keep watching the thread that way when an order is done I can get in on it.

I liked everything about the tires, I just read that the Ikon 2.35 had less rolling resistance so I took the plunge and spent the money to get them. I really want to keep these since they have better traction than the Ikon, and I could use them in different seasons. Alas when I ordered the Ikons the wife insisted that I sell the Ousters.

That was a beer typo. I ran 20 in the rear tire and 18 in the front. The last half mile to the south trail head I stopped (I had brought a digital gauge and a pump in case I needed to add air) and let out air to make the front 16 and the rear 18. It bounced off roots a bit less and I still don't feel like I could have rimmed it even on the hardest drop. I was 183lbs this morning.
Very happy with the 2.35's though. They roll so much faster than what I accustomed too. My 26'er has been rocking WTB Velociraptors for a LONG time...so this whole 29er and Tubeless this is new to me in the past few months.

Todd at chain reaction is the Man! Chain Reaction is right down the street from me. I have purchased a few things there (just spend $250 in there last week on new shoes and SPD pedals, as well as a Padrone), but they've sort of left a bad taste in my mouth with the pushiness with sales. I've never dealt with the maintenance/shop section. I was going to take the bike the Outspokin', the two times I went in there they were very nice and that was just my gut feeling. So you are saying you would recommend taking it to Chain Reaction and asking for Todd?

I mounted these on my hybrid bike and road around my neighborhood for a few miles and decided to go in a different direction with my tire choice. They still have the marbling texture on them as it comes from the factory. Can provide pictures on request. I ordered these from Amazon, $19.99 shipped with prime. www.amazon.com/Michelin-MDST-P-Dynamic-Sport-Tire/dp/B007XRAZ0IAsking $25 for both.
Private message or drop me a response in here. Thanks
