I've seen comments that there is a north parking lot which gives access to Tower and Big Rock without having to ride the Connector. Can someone post directions to the north lot? Also, what is the road surface - paved? gravel? dirt? I have a mini-van so not very good clearance. Thanks!

The north parking lot is on a gravel road that connects Hopewell Church Road and Woodlawn Road: F661. Your minivan will be fine on it. I've seen a Corvette parked out there. F661 is the dashed line on the map (and continues up to Woodlawn). The Connector trail follows part of the road. The parking lot is where the dashed line meets the purple line. Big Rock starts/ends on either side of the road at the entrance to the parking lot.

Just wanted to pop in and say that the erosion on this road really pushed the limits of the minivan that I took out there today to ride Big Rock and Tower. There are quite a few parts that are washed out and in bad shape, the van made it through them fine but I do not believe my car would make it (Hyundai Elantra)

She's home alone with three girls, one of which is a week into potty training.

If I remember correctly, it's at the top of the hill, just down from the Big Rock trail crossing, and is before any serious erosion starts.
