Just like our yards and the roads around us, we would go a very short distance before we had to stop to clear off the debris. I know Michael had to fire up the chainsaw at least 20 times to take out trees and many more times to shorten limbs to make it manageable to move them off the trail. The gravel roads have a lot of trees down, too. The parking lot and boat ramp have a few trees down: Horn Creek is running high, too. I don't think I would want to cross it:

Have done this loop several times, with just a slight deviation. We didn't do the bush whacking and creek crossing that joins 2 gravel roads. Instead we took another gravel road in the same area and is pretty much the same ride. The last time we did this ride it was on cross bikes. I had never ridden my cross bike on an actual trail, so was interesting to ride the last mile of the route on the Turkey Creek trail. This is a fun, beautiful loop.

Pictures never do it justice--they minimize the damage. What you see in the pictures is over and over and over and over. In the last 2 pictures, if you look at the next corner or ahead on the trail you can see where the next mud ruts start and run for a long ways. There was little dry space between the sections of ruts. One of the rangers came by our campsite this morning to talk with us about the trail, and even told us some hikers had reported how difficult it was to hike the trail. Many of the ruts are 6" deep. For those of us who know this trail, there is a huge difference. You honestly have to see it yourself to assess the damage. The ranger will be walking the trail on Wednesday, and will be working on "event policies" that include rain dates and alternative routes. This trail needs a lot of repairs. Michael and I have put a lot of work in this trail, and right now it is very disheartening.

Very interesting video! Enjoyed seeing how all the beams fit together, etc. Quite the dream home, and I am looking forward to more pics as construction continues. Nice that you have access to USFS property and a bike trail.

No, we haven't been back out there. We didn't ride Turkey Ridge that day, so don't know if there were any other trees on the loop. We did take out the trees at the entrance. Glad to know it is in great condition, and thanks for taking out the 2 trees. Beautiful day for a ride!

I have been enjoying your post and pictures. Hope you get to ride Cedar Rock--Dupont isn't Dupont until you have been on that trail.

Beckyl and ooliej spent a lot of time preparing for their first cross race. They went to a cross clinic, practiced their mounts and dismounts, barriers, run-ups, and went to several local cross practices. Kim was at the practices, too. I'm quite impressed with their determination to be prepared and race well. They dug deep and raced hard!!! Impressive. Nice job, Ross and volunteers, on the event. It was quite the success! Love all the pics--there was some hard racing going on and SORBAcsra was well represented by many riders and volunteers!!!

Wow!! Nice job!!! I got on IMBA's website and looked at the application process--that was a lot of work. Looking forward to seeing how we scored: Gold, Silver, or Bronze!

Four of us went out today on our cross bikes and completed what I call the "Cyper Loop." Others have ridden this loop, and seenvic has posted a map of the loop on this website. I don't know what anyone else calls it, but Cyper Loop fits because you go by the Cyper Creek Seasonal Camp. We started at the Price's Bottom parking lot at Turkey Creek, headed up the gravel road, left on Key, then took gravel past the Rifle Range. Left on 283 and headed up other gravel roads to Cyper Creek Seasonal Camp. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Continuing on the loop, we did more gravel and paved on the upper part of the loop, then down Upper Mill Road, etc. We ended the ride by following FS road 618 and crossed the creek. Bec wanted to try out the cross bikes on the Turkey Creek Trail, so we followed the gravel road down and took the last mile of trail back to the bridge over Turkey Creek. Right around 30 miles! All in all an excellent day!!!

Nice pics! I love to see trails from different states. Thanks for the post. The rocks in the second picture look tough and that is one amazing rock garden in the skills area. That took some work to make! Looks like you had a great time!

A lot of work has gone on since the last time we rode some of the trails. The Reasonover Trail has some reroutes, and on Sunday we rode down the Ridgeline Trail! They took it off the double track and basically built a whole new singletrack section. The whole weekend was a lot of fun!

So nice to be out on my bike today! Trail work was perfect because I am riding a bit slow. One bridge on section 2 has a broken stringer, but still rideable. The stringer is anchored on the ground so the bridge isn't going to collapse. Another bridge on section 2 burned up. With a little work it will be very rideable and shouldn't need replaced: We didn't finish section 3, and didn't get to sections 4 and 5.

New Fat Tire Fox!! At the monthly Ladies Ride, Tracie was presented with a surprise birthday present by her husband, Kai. Tracie's daughter, Madison (A Fat Tire Kit?) was also there to see the birthday present. While the ladies were out riding, Madison went out on the trail with Kai. Okay, Tracie, the pic is up so post up and tell us more about yourself!
