Perfect today. Had the opportunity to ride with several members of the Fat Tire Foxes phenom. The tread was perfect, and there was only a tad of debris to remove/move. That was done on the first lap, so needless to say, subsequent laps were pretty darn uneventful!

Rode Horne Creek yesterday. There was one tree perched about 3 1/2 feet off the ground that was in the way at the first switchback at the beginning of section 3. Ehscott, Larry L., and myself took care of it. The rest if the trail was in great shape. The only thing this beauty needs is some wheels, so get out there if you can.

Rode today, the trail is in great shape!
There were several trees down in Sections 1-3: Section 1 was able to be cleared of 2-3 trees by hand Section 2 had 2-3 trees cleared by hand, but 2-3 were left. One needs a chainsaw, the rest can be cleared with a folding type saw. Section 3 has several trees down. One was able to be cleared by hand, one will probably require a chainsaw, and one or two can probably be cleared with a folding saw. All downed trees are between Section 2 and the winter parking lot.
I hope to get back on the trail sometime next week to take care of the trees that can be removed with a hand saw, unless someone beats me to it.
There's a new rider down in Section 2, it should be a rider for most people as long as it holds up.
Finally, all the bridges, signs and mile markers have been raked around, looks like the USFS will be doing a prescribed burn sometime in the near future.

Got a call today from a bud that says Horn is wasted. Trees down in nearly every section. A couple of burned out bridges. As typical, sections 2 and 4 need the DR.
We plan on doing a recon next weekend. Hopefully the chainsaw cert cards will be here soon.

Started this morning at section 1. A bit overgrown, bit not bad. Section 2: Whoa! An even dozen trees cut out. One burned out bridge. One bridge that will absolutely require replacement within 12 months.. Section 3: Twenty trees cut out within the first 1/2 mile. Got really tired, plus it was right around noon. Tired...tired...tired. After roughly 30 trees and 4 hours of trail work, we were done. Time to take the gravel road back to the vehicle. We got into section 3, but did not complete it. We did not look at sections 4 and 5. Tomorrow? Saw some fresh mtb tire tracks this morning. If "you" were unhappy with having to go over and around so many trees, hit it again. The trail is now nearly cleared. Promise you that it is a one-eighty from what you experienced this weekend. MD

Great job! Wow, I didn't realize what a mess it was out there. Now that it's clear we need to go ride it soon. Glad YC is on her feet again!

So nice to be out on my bike today! Trail work was perfect because I am riding a bit slow. One bridge on section 2 has a broken stringer, but still rideable. The stringer is anchored on the ground so the bridge isn't going to collapse. Another bridge on section 2 burned up. With a little work it will be very rideable and shouldn't need replaced: We didn't finish section 3, and didn't get to sections 4 and 5.

Trees have been cut out (about 50) but one more fell in S2 this past week. Lots of DR mower work has been completed in the past couple of weeks. S1, S3 and S5 got cut yesterday thanks to KF and TF. Nevin knocked out most of S4 and S2 last weekend. The second half of Section 2 (going CW) needs to be mowed still, and we have a bridge to replace. Waiting to hear back from the USFS on the bridge. Rode Horn yesterday evening- no rain but we heard some thunder. Other than the section 2 mowing mentioned above, the trail is in pretty good shape. Hardly any trees left standing at the bottom of section 3, ridiculous.

I don't know if anyone noticed or cares that BD riders were cutting the switchback at the start of section 5 just after crossing the road. There was a well-defined trail there by the end of the day. I'm sure with lack of use it will cover over quickly. Maybe something should be put there to block continued use though?

I was doing the switchback the whole time and found out later that it looked like everyone was just going straight down the hill. Not that it saved time or anything. I liked sliding around that switchback anyway.

People were cutting corners at the Baker's Dozen? PF and I were putting up the caution tape at all the road crossings and thought about taping off the shortcut (which was the old line) to force people toward the switchback. At the time, it was hard to see the old line and we thought it wouldn't be a problem. We were wrong and should have taped it off. As TZ said, by the end of the day you would have thought that the shortcut was the only line.

Oh, that switchback. Yeah I've cut that before on accident myself.

I seem to remember that it was taped off last year for BD.
