Nevin will be happy to know there will be a bunch of hammer heads there. I'll make sure he checks the forum for any logistics.

Came across this hilarious article (should be working but trying to stay sane) and had to share. It's long but well worth it. Still trying to figure out how this guy got into my head. LOL. In the article my favorite statement about biking is "You are forced, under pain of death, to quit all that silly ideation and pay attention. It’s meditation at gunpoint." More true for roadies and commuters but you get the point. opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/05/07/fear-and-cycling/

This is gonna be fun! We love the LCHT and ride it every time we go to visit my dad at Lake Greenwood. A bunch of us are camping at HKSP that weekend and plan to attend this event. If you haven't ridden this trail you've gotta try it. Yeee haaa! ;D

Angela, I'm certain you've helped some folks by posting the poison ivy pic. It took me years and lots of horrible oozing rashes to figure it out! People should also know that the oil from the leaves can get on clothes and shoes and stay potent for a long time. It takes a hot wash to get it off clothes. Also, we keep an old water bottle filled with dish liquid in the shower so if there is ever an inkling that we have been exposed, we use that to wash the oil off. Regular soap does not work as well.

seenvic, you still need to post her under the "Introductions" on the FTF topic. I'd love to see a picture of her on her bike!
Big thanks, too, to JP3 and Julie. You two rock!

Had a great ride yesterday with Yetichick and Chaos (and MD and oopsfelldown for part of the way). Thanks MD for letting us steal your girl away for a longer ride.
Big day for Chaos - she rode all 36 miles, a first for her! To top it off her seat kept slipping so she had to stop every few miles and fix it. She's one tough FTF! She's gonna give me a run for my money when she gets that darn seat fixed.
We also got to see the guys come through on Ted's adventure and they were still looking fresh! Great day all around!!

Great story. Nevin and I bike toured through Tuscany in '05 and followed the Giro through a couple of villages. Italian drivers (and people in general) are awesome and bikes are highly regarded. It helps that most cars are very small as well and you don't see the aggressive behavior like you do here. Only problem with Italy is too much good wine, cheese and bread! I think I gained 5 lbs while I was there even with the touring!

Just wanted to put the word out that for about a month now we have been riding the canal singletrack every Tues. after work (between 5-6:30). It is very convenient for us because we can get 3-5 loops in on the way to the Pavilion from GHSU and still have a nice evening at home. There are usually a few other FTFs there as well and sometimes an extra dude (i.e. MD). Feel free to join us if you don't want to ride alone.

I hope we get a chance to vote on the March POTM submissions. Also, the first pic dgaddis posted from TC last weekend should be submitted for the April POTM...it's pretty sweet.

GHSU is having group rides to work this Friday, April 20 in conjunction with Earth Day activities on campus. We're planning to ride the same 3 routes as previous times: the Greeneway, the Hill, and the Canal. Check www.facebook.com/pages/Bike-to-GHSU/205384486159616 for information and contact Miriam Cortez-Cooper, Alan Saul, or myself, respectively, to let us know you're coming!! Interaction is also available via the Facebook page. The Canal ride leaves from the Savannah Rapids Pavilion at 6:45, led by me and Nevin. The Greeneway ride leaves from Pisgah Park at 7:00, led by Miriam Cortez-Cooper. The Hill ride leaves from the southeast corner of the parking lot at Daniel Village at 7:30 (note the new time, which differs from previous rides) led by Alan Saul. Pass the word to anybody you know who might be interested. You might suggest to people who live in far-flung locales that they could park their motor vehicles at the start. People can meet the pack anywhere along the route, as well. Just ask one of the leaders about when they expect to arrive at a particular point and be patient. Upon arrival at campus, there will be juice and pastries provided by the Green Team for all riders. Meet at the Health Sciences Building at 8:00. Everybody will also get a raffle ticket, which you can take to the Earth Day event and turn in for a chance to win a door prize donated by the many vendors. Bring your bike to Earth Day to help advocate for cycling among the rest of the crowd. Representatives from Wheel Movement will be among the many cool exhibitors.
