I am originally from Waverly, Ohio and started mountain biking at Scioto Trails and Paint Creek in Southern Ohio back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Moved to Aiken in ’98 and joined the ABC where I found my second love, road biking. While in Aiken, I rode the ORA about twice a week then moved to Blacksburg, Virginia for grad school and rode Pandapas Pond and Carvin’s Cove regularly. My timing was just right because I ended up back in the CSRA in time for the FATS to open. I’ve always had a hardtail, first being a GT Timberline with funky handlebars and the second was a Fuji Tahoe from Cyclesport - both with front suspension. Then this past winter I bought my FS Yeti ASR from Phil…and the angels sang. Love it! Her name is Sweet Sassy Sasquatch (I’m a bit crazy if you haven’t already noticed). My road biking is practically non-existent at this point (too many people texting and life is too valuable) however my husband and I bike commute to work via the towpath every day year round. For this I ride a Fuji Cross Comp I got from Brett. She’s all decked out with a trunk, panniers and fenders (no name though). I can’t say enough about how much I love mountain biking…it’s really a spiritual thing for me and the fact my husband feels the same way only makes it better. I believe it is the best sport on the planet. Oh, I need to mention that our garage also has a number of bikes from AJ’s too…we are very fortunate to have the best LBSs right here in the CSRA.
