Thanks for the Wine update, wgp. Sounds like it turned into quite an adventure and I'm glad you made it out safely. That is a lot of mileage after doing trail work on Turkey! Nevin and I will try to get out there and cut sometime in the next month or so. Riding Turkey and Wine in the fall and winter is particularly awesome.

Thanks JT, JP and Mark! Sorry about the hornets Pilcher. I hope you are OK. Yes, Wine is a fun trail now and riding TC/Wine is our favorite old school ride in the CSRA.

Sad to say Wine is a mess after the storms last week. Most of the mess is the usual area that will be taken out with the reroute but if you want to enjoy the ride in the meantime, it needs a saw and cleaned up.

Rode Turkey and Wine yesterday and realized that Turkey needed some cutting within a few miles of the 617A trailhead so we went out this morning and cut. Should be perfect now but will need a DR in probably a month. Wine is a mess but I'll post that under the Wine section. Anyway, here are few pics of the biggest stuff: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After:

We got out on Modoc with ranger dog (Morry) today and did some cutting. Based on our ride last Sunday, we knew there were non-riders around a mile in from each end so we did short hikes on each end to take care of them. Hoping nothing came down in the middle during the week! Ran into Mark Hanna while he was enjoying a glorious day on a solo epic ride. He needs a bell because he scared me half to death. ;o) Before: After: Before: After:

These are both beautiful trails. Turkey Creek (for me) is hands down the best ride in the CSRA when it is clear. If you haven't ridden it yet, do so tomorrow. I promise, you'll love these old school trails. Thanks for all the hard work from everyone!

We hope to see you at Wheel Movement’s Taste of the Tour fundraiser on July 23 at Enterprise Mill ( register here). We’ve had a productive year thus far and hope to keep up the momentum with your support. Along with talks to civic groups and churches, here is a list of our accomplishments in 2016: * Public Service Commercial * Bike Station dedicated to Andy Jordan at Savannah Rapids Pavilion * Cycling Safety Billboards in conjunction with Georgia Bikes! * Wheel Movement president, Jim Ellington, spoke at a Columbia County Commission Meeting in support of keeping a planned Columbia County bike lane

Thanks for the updates wala and brando. Yesterday, we parked at Cedar Springs and cut 6 non-riders between there and about 2/3 the way (after the wet whoops). Overall, the tread is in great shape except for the usual culprits. Today we ride!! Here are some pics: Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Before: (The root ball from another tree that was taken down by this beast took out part of the trail so the cut had to force the trail over a bit.) After: After: (Forgot the before shot but it was about a foot off the boardwalk.) Before: (I think this was brand new because we heard a tree fall on our way to this point.) After:

The Lambert pack figured it was a good day to cut some trees so we headed to the back entrance of Modoc and took out five rather large ones. The trail is saturated and a couple of the small bridges need attention. Other than that, this trail generally dries fast and it is one of the best trails around. Give it some wheels when things dry up a bit! Before: After: Before: After: Now, this one was a doozie and yes, we always have ranger dog on his lead when Nevin cuts: After:: Before: After: Before: (this was interesting because it had already been cut once but the flooding moved it and you can see where it was before if you look closely) After:

Thanks for your hard work Tom and Mark! We hope to start getting some trail work logged after the new year. Morry misses swamping.

You know there are good things happening in the cycling community when it’s hard to re-schedule a weekend cycling event that doesn’t coincide with another cycling event! On that note, you are invited to attend Wheel Movement of the CSRA’s Annual Meeting and Ride of Celebration the morning of November 21. This event is being dedicated to the Memory of Andy Jordan and the rides will begin at the Kroc Center at 9 a.m. Bring your kids for the free Bike Safety Clinic with League of American Bicyclists' instructors! Please register online at bit.ly/1LhpujG or you may register the day of the event at 8 a.m. Registration includes the ride, breakfast, giveaways and 2016 Wheel Movement membership.

We found some nice sunglasses on the road outside of the north trailhead of FATS around 11:30 on Sunday, August 9. If they are yours, email me a description at rclambert1968@gmail.com and you will be reunited with them.
