We are on to meet on Thursday, March 15th for our first chapter group ride. The plan is to be ready to roll at 6:30 sharp so we have time to ride and be out of the woods by dark. Given the rain we had yesterday, we will assess the trail as we head down the top of the Skinny and then if it appears the lower Skinny might be too wet (since it stays wet the longest), we will more than likely head down the Brown Wave and faster riders can do the loop and slower riders can do an in out. We'll have some ride leaders and we will have people riding sweep, over time this ride will develop a life of its own if enough people participate. Since we will be skirting the final daylight of the day, would not be a bad idea to throw a small flashlight in your backpack just in case you have to stop to change a tire, etc during the ride. See you at 6:30 - we'll be in the green Ford F-150 pickup truck.

And they are now predicting a 30% chance of thunderstorms from 5pm through midnight or later so we will need to keep an eye on the weather. I will post if the ride is cancelled or you can call me if needed at (706) 799-0209.

Weather and trail conditions permitting we are on for the Thursday night ride at FATS - again plan to be there in time to roll by 6:30pm. Last week half the group headed for the Brown Wave and the other half headed off from the parking lot to ride Tower and Big Rock.
Come on out, regardless of your riding style and speed, we'll plan on making the call on which trail at that time!

I cannot make this weeks ride, but hopefully next week. To anyone out there who has the time, come on out. There was a small group of us who did a quick ride around half of skinny and brown wave. It was a great time, weather was very ideal and we finished before dark Spread the word.

We have representation there as well but certainly as many people as possible attending is desirable, particularly if they are also using this meeting to gauge interest!

The Weather Channel is showing 50% chance of rain just prior to ride time so be sure to check the weather or this thread before you head out if you are planning to ride!

Rain percent is now low but there are some pop up showers (but doesn't look like thunderstorms around the general area) so will take the chance and drive out to FATS! If somethings pops up we will abort the ride as necessary!

Looked pretty iffy all the way to the FATS parking lot since the road out there was dry, damp, dry, damp, dry, damp but since we committed we knew we at least had to show up in the parking lot.
Turned out the parking lot and the section of trail from the parking lot to about the first road crossing had had a sprinkle but just enough to knock the dust down. The remainder of the top of Skinny and Brown Wave were in great shape for an early evening ride (those couple of remaining seeps on both trails are still there).

Nevin and I will be leading the Thurs. ride at 6:30. We'll have our bike lights ready to go just in case. I'll plan on hanging out with the folks riding Skinny, BW, Wall and DS (whichever) and Nevin can hit DS, Tower and BR with anyone who is interested. Hope to see some of the FTFs out there. Woot woot!!

If the weather and trail conditions hold the Thursday ride will be on with the start at the main FATS parking lot! Be ready to roll by 6:30pm - Susan Messick will be the point person. The ideal situation is if we can have someone out in front leading those who might want to ride Skinny and then hit the Brown Wave or if in reverse Skinny then Great Wall and then someone with a slightly delayed start bringing up the rear to render assistance if there are people who just want to ride the Skinny. That way no one is held back and no one feels like they have to kill it to keep up with the faster riders! Would love to see this Thursday ride grow!

Missed your post earlier Beckyl - that's great! The ride is on and the weather is perfect. This is an all level, all gender ride so head on out to FATS and join the ride - be ready to roll at 6:30.
