No coordinates in hand? Will they be placed on existing sign posts? If so, does anyone have coordinates for existing sign posts?

Brian: Good idea. Are the precise locations of these signs known? I tweaked the last map and think it is much better now. Also, I have attached it as a PDF. Attachments:

Here is another draft, where I replaced #s with color coded abbreviations (e.g., Tg1, Tower gas crossing 1; BRc, Big Rock connector; Tc, Tower connector). I think it would be nice have the bridges marked as well, but I don't have the coordinates for them (yet). Looking at this version online, I'm not sure that it is any better. The colored text doesn't show up very well on the satellite map. But, at least it is another option to discuss. The original image size is 24"x24". The Garmin software that I have doesn't allow you to resize fonts on the XY axes. That might have to be done by hand in Photoshop. With some consensus and specific suggestions, I am willing to try one more draft. Alternatively, someone with artistic skill and/or vision can speak up and I will send them the GPX, jpg, and Photoshop files.

I did the drains at the bottom of Brown Wave (marked in yellow on map) a few weeks ago. I was by myself, it was pouring rain, and I only had an adz so I opted for quantity over quality with drain clearing. If the explore the trails ride Saturday is canceled, I'll go back and see if they are still draining well. Regardless, there were a few particularly deep and muddy spots that will require brick and/or stone.

If you're going to go with this, I think this version may be more useful to the new people at FATS.

Dustin: Here is an annotated elevation profile for Big Rock and Tower. Is this what you want? Comments, corrections, suggestions are welcome.

Give me a day or two and let's see what we can do.
I don't have an Edge. I have the GPSmap 60csx, which is a hand held unit we use for geocaching (BV has a similar model and may have data for trails that I haven't ridden). It has a fantastic antenna and holds on to satellites really well - even under pretty dense canopy. I ride with it in the outside pocket of my camelbak.

Yes. If you prefer, I can have an image of just the elevation profile. All my GPS information is in Garmin GPX format. Using GPSbabel (on a mac) I can change GPX to KML, KMZ, and a ton of other formats. I think you need a Garmin Edge-like GPS to upload to Garmin training center. Not sure about Garmin Connect or Motion Based. Will try this afternoon or this evening and let you know.

I brought my GPS last week and only did one lap (although it is easy to change the data to show one lap). Here is a tinyURL link to Google Maps < tinyurl.com/ylogr5jHope this is helpful. David

I don't know man, you might be too generous with the praise. After all the rock hauling that you and JP did yesterday...I am a slacker. JL should have posted pictures of the true heroes yesterday.

Just spoke with BV...If you can, we will meet at North parking lot at 11:00AM. He wants to get some work done before the rain.

I'm thinking forest service road 661 - the dirt road that leads to the North parking lot (Tower/Big Rock).

Actually, there were 42 bricks (and pieces of 1/2 of a brick) remaining at the cemetery...but who's counting?
All 42.5 bricks and 4 metal rods are now located trail side, at the end of the cemetery shortcut. We weren't sure whether they were needed upstream or downstream so this seemed like the best spot.
