Went for a little exploration today with PK out at Bussey Point up at the Lake. This is a COE recreational area that focuses on equestrians. There is a campground/day use parking area and then gated forest service roads and horse trail (did not explore these) that go to a series of points in the Lake. Two of which are five miles out and have primitive campsites and one shelter. The tread is very sandy in areas. www.sas.usace.army.mil/About/DivisionsandOffices/OperationsDivision/JStromThurmondDamandLake/PlanaVisit/Trails.aspxAlmost to the end of Pace Ferry Road. At full pool this stretch would be submerged. End of pace Ferry. Would be a great place to set up a tent. Heading out to Cadmus End PK at the End The shelter at Cadmus End. besides this there is an outhouse and a few other campsites with table and fire pit. View from the shelter. One of the campsites at Owls Island. We saw three sites, outhouse and water pump at this point. PK and dad. on the way out

Jeremy,
Glad you are enjoying Bartram. This is my favorite trail since I can either take it easy with a family ride or pound it out when i am out by myself. Always has nice scenery to chill if you just want to re-charge. I would suggest trying to make Bikefest on November 2n. Great times and a way to meet other riders.

Hickory Knob, Mistletoe, the Canal, and inside the boundaries of Wildwood hunting is not allowed. I have always been active outdoors (hiking, biking, trail running, etc) and have never been bothered by hunters. Wearing orange is not required (by law) for non-hunters but IMO, and many others, do so and encourage others to do so for safety and also to show respect to hunters. When it comes own to it, they are out enjoying the outdoors like others that share them with us.

copied from Chain Reactions FB page:
"Hey everyone, we are starting up a group ride Thursday nights at 6:15pm out at Petersburg. It will be a mellow, fun ride for all mountain bike experience levels. The ride starts out in the light but you'll need to bring a light for when it gets dark. We have a few to loan at Chain Reaction if you want to try them out the first time. Give us a call or stop by for more information! 706-855-2024"
Talking to Phil the first ride had 7 riders and all had a blast.

non-rider after the second bridge (but before the "keg creek" sign) from the burg heading to the dam. About 10" in diameter and is 18" above the trail.

the closure is nothing to save money (a locked bathroom would do that) but to cause as much headache to the users of the trail and in a grander scale the American population. Just like not allowing volunteers to maintain trails during this time. If it was about "non-essential" government employees then why isn't barrack or Michele driving the kids to school or cooking their meals? Two weeks ago we ha enough money to bomb Syria but now not enough to clean a bathroom?......and yes i have contacted my Representative and Senator.

From the CSRA Ultra FB page, they are looking into another location in the CSRA. Possible a place in Aiken.

Rode from the 'burg to the Dam and then out to the Big Dip (mile 11) clearing the trail of cobwebs for my fellow trail users. Two non-riders. One by the metal bridge and the second right after the Big Dip in one of the smaller dips. Also there is a rider between 7 -7.5 that I would classify as a sloppy rider. Might give some a hard time how it is positioned. More of a large twisted limb then log.

The sign is more due to the distance between WW and the 'burg (9+ miles one way) and not the difficulty of the terrain.

Here is one I took of Cas. She liked the trail but was suffering bad allergies. We will be back.
