March 21, looks like rain going through the CSRA today/tonight...
If it's dry through Saturday:
1. Will there be a work day I could sign up for?
2. Is there a possibility of it being rideable?
Cheers, CSRA!

Hi Angela!
April 23rd morning/afternoon. Trail closed?

Rode Thursday afternoon (April 10) and everything was dry. There is some decent flow on the creek so I opted not to cross the slick rock. I kind of regret that now.

Arrived yesterday around lunch time and talked to a few folks who had been out already. Here's what I picked up and saw:
* Great Wall - Sounded like there are stretches of active seeps on the trail with deep mud. Muddy bikes in evidence.
* From South Trailhead to Brown Wave (take every left turn) was almost completely dry.
* Skinny is rideable but with little areas of squish here and there.
The point is your bike is going to get dirty.
Lastly, I wanted say the work that the trail stewards have done since the storm is incredible. I was in awe of some of the work that was obviously needed to open the trail back up.
We'll done, SORBA CSRA!

Drove through the parking lot yesterday after riding Mistletoe and saw a half dozen cars. I guess that means the riding is good.
On my way to the trailhead now.

My day is depending on your recon. No pressure!
:-)
Seriously though, I'm really expecting to be back either tomorrow or Sunday. The trails were great Wednesday.
Looking forward to your report and as always, thanks for being there!

Annual Augusta pilgrimage this week. No! Not for golf!
Trails in any shape? Looks like rain maybe Thursday?

Days after this post I just wanted to say you CSRA people suck getting to ride FATS whenever you want (and trail conditions permitting).
I can't stop thinking about that trail. Hope to see it again soon!

Masters week riding was spectacular: Brown Wave, Great Wall, Skinny. The report above was spot on for that time.
Should be about perfect now, no?

Rode 15 miles around the park yesterday morning. Not bad! The creek crossing is a bit washed out but nothing a determined rider can't manage by jumping log to log. The off-camber roots and rocks on the NW side of the loop is challenging to say the least. Masters week CSRA bike adventure continues!

Hi gang. Nearing time for my annual pilgrimage. As always, I love this trail and what ya'll do to keep it up. Angela... if you will be around the trail Masters weekend maybe I'll see you again and can hit you up (again) for a FATS sticker for my Thule faring. Cheers!

I'll be poking around the trails Friday and/or Saturday, and/or Sunday as well and depending on availability of Masters tickets / hangover status. Blue Volvo Wagon, dark tint, Thule rack, Cobb plates.

What's this about a burn? Trails should be dry by the weekend right?
My backup plan is Mistletoe I think. I used to camp there alla time when I was younger. Never knew there was a trail there now. Maybe I'll ride both if I am so blessed.

Normally a great place to camp would be the Petersburg Campground on the Georgia side but I know a friend waited a bit late and is now in primative camping due to this being Master's Week. I suspect it will be difficult finding a camping spot close in through the coming weekend. Angela... you got this response in a macro at this point?

Petersburg would be my first choice. 15 minutes to FATS and it also offers mt biking from there. I agree Brian. And thanks for the advice on Modoc and pollen. I'm starting the Flonase now.

Thanks Angela! As a local boy (I grew up in AGS) all these names sound familiar. It's kind of funny that people rent their house out and then camp a few miles away. ;D
Worst case, I have family in Trenton, SC about 20-30 away too.
Cheers!

Hey gang. Long time reader, second or third time poster...
I'm planning a trip to Augusta to ride FATS during Masters weekend in Augusta. Trails will be light, right? ;D
Question: Are there any good recommendations for a close camp ground? The Google indicates that that Forks Campground is closed... is this true?
Is the next best suggestion something at Modoc?
Thanks for the help,
