With the weather clearing up a bit the next 2 days, will the trail be open to ride Thursday/Friday? Coming from Charleston and Greenville. Thursday, January 1st might be O.K., but there will be lots of soft spots and drains holding water. The weather forecast for Friday is 70% chance of rain - Saturday too, so you may not get two days of clear weather.

The USFS has incorporated FATS into their "Call Before You Haul" hotline that gives recent/updated information on trail conditions in Sumter National Forest. www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/scnfs/recreationor call (803) 561-4025.

Bringing this one back... Anyone know if a 2015 Baker's Dozen is in the works? Has the Wildwood Games taken its place? Not likely in 2015 or 2016. We had low registration numbers and lost money the last few events. The BDs were sponsored and run by SORBAcsra volunteers, while the Wildwood Games are a Columbia County sponsored event.

The Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau has generously donated two entries for the 2015 Wildwood Games that we will give away to two deserving volunteers. These entries are good for any sport including the trail run, swim, disc golf, or, wait for it…the USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike Championships. Who doesn’t want to ride with the pros? Thank you Randy DuTeau for supporting SORBA-CSRA volunteers with this great opportunity to participate in the WW Games next year.

Were you a (trail work) GIVER in 2014? Here is a list of SORBAcsra's Top 25 trail volunteers for 2014 and, as you can see, there are a lot of seriously committed givers. The 2014 end of year tally will be 122 unique volunteers and 2,110.5 hours volunteered on trails in the CSRA. Were you one of the 122 givers this year? If you were a giver, come to our volunteer appreciation event on Saturday (at Mistletoe State Park) and win a prize, get some swag, and meet the other givers. If you didn't volunteer this year, but want to know more about what we do or how you can get involved, you are welcome to join us on Saturday too - and we'll even feed you. We'll announce the top 3 super-givers on Saturday. Thank you for your support.

Have you heard that tomorrow (Saturday 12/06) is our monthly meeting and volunteer appreciation event at Mistletoe State Park? This year, we upset the applecart and gave another local bike shop $25 and asked them to stretch it as far as possible for a "second from first" prize for one (or more) of our deserving volunteers. That's when Brett started clearing the shelves until the bag was full. Here is a sneak peak at what Outspokin' Bicycles did for us this year. You might recognize, even use, some of these products, but you need to show up on Saturday, and have volunteered at an official work party this year, to have a chance at taking one home. Thank you Brett Ardrey for giving until it hurts.

Look at what several of our bestest partners donated for our volunteer appreciation event on Saturday at Mistletoe State Park!!! The Augusta Sports Council donated two piles of Ironman 70.3 Augusta tech shirts (in black and blue), our friends and partners at the Lake Thurmond - Savannah District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers donated a huge box of Georgia's Rivers volunteer t-shirts, and Bontrager and Maxxis Tires, via Southern Off-Road bicycle Association (IMBA-SORBA), donated a box of prize-worthy goodies - including tires, blinkies, pumps, tools, and bike computers. Last, but not least, we will be giving away a gift certificate good for a Thomson Bike Parts seat post or stem. A huge thank you to all of our private, public, and non-profit partners and land managers for supporting SORBA-CSRA and our volunteers this year. We hope to see you on Saturday! Thank you for your support.

We're changing it up a little this year by giving another of our local bike shops $50 and asking them to stretch it as far as they can for a second prize for one of our volunteers. Chain Reaction Bicycles outdid themselves again this year with a prize that will be a welcome addition to anyone's garage, bike shed, possibly living room, or, if you're still living at home, bedroom. Here is a sneak peak at what one of our lucky, and deserving, volunteers (maybe you?) will be taking home Saturday afternoon. Thank you Phil for giving until it hurts.

Each year we give one local bike shop $100 and ask them to stretch it as far as they can for a prize for one of our volunteers. This year, Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse stepped up with a huge grand prize!!! Here is a sneak peak at what Drew did for us this year. You might recognize the brand, but you'll have to show up on Saturday to see what one of our volunteers (maybe you?) will win. Thank you Andy Jordan's for giving until it hurts. Oh, by the way, the Giant Bicycles demo truck will be at Mistletoe on Saturday from 10AM - 3PM. If you demo a bike, you can bring your paid park pass to Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse for $5 off your purchase. See their demo page for details. andyjordans.com/articles/giant-bicycles-demo-day-and-cookout-pg433.htm

Update: The people have spoken. We'll contact Primal on Monday and get 'er done. Stay tuned. We've had several requests for the SORBAcsra jersey in a hi-vis color such as hunter orange (à la AJBW) or day-glo green/yellow (à la Outspokin'). Hunter orange would be most useful in the woods during hunting season (Oct.-Jan.), so we mocked up the design shown below. To gauge interest in printing a hi-vis orange version of the SORBAcsra jersey, please let us know (comment below, PM, email dave.sorbacsra@gmail.com) if you would be interested in purchasing a SORBAcsra jersey in hunter orange. If we have interest from at least 20 folks, we'll move forward on a final design. FYI: The last three jersey printings were done through an IMBA program with Primal, where each jersey was $65 and Primal donated $10 back to SORBAcsra and $1 to IMBA. We're not sure if the program is still active but would try to keep a similar price point and benefit to SORBAcsra. Thank you for your support.

SORBA President Dave It sounds to me that the individual is in fact a member and a active member at that... I do look forward to hearing from you to rectify this because I am a firm believer IN IMBA -SORBA and wish to continue to support it financially. It seems that this is an unfortunate situation all around. I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know what you want rectified. I'm not his mother, nor the trail police. Feel free to email me your phone number and we can discuss further. If one bad trail interaction is enough for you to paint all of IMBA-SORBA with the same brush, including the 2,000 volunteer hours we have in our trails this year, then you are free to do as you wish with your support (however, it seems that your two most recent contributions to IMBA-SORBA were in 2009 and 2010). Alternatively, you can keep supporting IMBA-SORBA 'financially' or be part of the solution and come to our monthly meetings, participate in our rides/events, or volunteer for a work party.

I lost my Oakleys on skinny at fats this evening. They're matt black split jackets with a silver O on them. They have clear lenses in them. If anyone finds them please contact me here. I would really appreciate the help! We rode Great Wall this morning, but checked the kiosk to see if they were found and left there. Unfortunately, nothing left at kiosk.

Could I get verification that the course route west of Lake Springs (towards the dam) and bellow the dam are on Corp. of Eng. land. I personally have ridden that section because of my understanding of who owns that land. All of Bartram Trail proper is on USACE land. Stay on the trail and you are good to go. For the east loop, sections of the race route not on Bartram Trail proper, but north of Hwy 221, east of Wildwood and west of Lake Springs Road, are less likely to be on USACE land and shouldn't be ridden without the express permission of the land owner or lessee. Nearly all of the race route around the quarry (below dam, south side of Hwy 221), including food plots, is on USACE land. The one exception is a short stretch of land somewhere near the southeast side of quarry route that I believe is private land. IIRC, the owner of this private land, or another nearby owner, has been known to say hello by (unlawfully) sending a few rounds down range. YMMV. If you must ride portions of the race route out of season and are unsure about ownership or permissions, please contact the WW Games Race Director for more information. Thank you for your support.

Never raced CX but am thinking about it. If not racing, can I interest you in volunteering? Need one person for morning slot and one person for afternoon slot.
