The winter parking lot is closed and locked so meet at the entrance to Lick Fork Recreation Area at 1:30pm tomorrow but do not block the closed gate with your vehicle.
A quick ride down the gravel hill and the trail can be accessed between sections 1 and 2.

FATS is still under official USFS closure and we had additional rain roll through the area early yesterday morning with more predicted for today.
USFS law enforcement issued a citation for a rider found riding the closed trails. Please protect the trails and respect the closure. Thank you!

When: Sunday, March 6th at 1:30pm Where: Horn Creek What: A 6 mile loop through diverse terrain, not technically difficult but with some good climbs (for this area) This is an intermediate level trail but as long as you are a reasonably fit beginning rider don’t miss the opportunity to check this trail out. The terrain evolves over the 5 different sections of trail with a nice ride alongside Horn Creek! There will be ride leaders and sweepers so no one left behind. You do not have to be a member of SORBAcsra to join us so bring your family and friends. In the event the weather or trail conditions are not acceptable, the ride will be cancelled so watch for postings here! Questions just post here or send an email to SORBAcsraCheck this out the trail profile, interestingly enough the first pic on this link is after a prescribed burn, Horn Creek just had a prescribed burn a couple of days ago so at least parts of the trail will look like this!

Scout check on FATS this morning revealed the trails are still to wet to ride. Looks like decent weather ahead so hopefully they will dry out soon.
Also a lot of debris, small and large trees down across the trails from the wind last week.
Stay tuned for updates!
As a reminder FATS is still under official USFS closure. Although it did not appear that any bikes had been on the trails since it was closed there were footprints. Please respect this official closure. Thank you!

Storm pushing through the area with over an inch of rain already and more rain to come. Strong winds over the next couple of days as well with gusts of 40 to 50 mph - expect we'll have trees down on various trails.
Please do not ride wet trails! It will take a few days to start drying out.

Thanks for the report Bob! Another scout checked a couple of the trails yesterday and they are still pretty sloppy. Please ride other trails in the area and give FATS a chance to dry out. Thank you!

The front that pushed through the area last night dropped just under an inch of rain (could be heavier in some areas). FATS will be too wet to ride for a few days. Please do not ride wet trails. Stay tuned for updates on trail conditions here, on Twitter or on SORBA CSRA Facebook page. Thank you!

FATS will be open today at noontime. There are some trees down along the trails and also wet/mucky spots (these seeping areas will probably be visible on the trails for several more weeks)!

This trail sheds water better than most in the area and should be in good shape for the ride tomorrow. Come on out and ride this trail!
Once you drive through the entrance gate coming into Boyd Pond Park, just follow the road- in a short distance it brings you into a very large parking lot- for the old RC track, for several ball fields, and a playground area. Very easy to access. The bathroom is at the end of the parking lot toward the ball fields.

Rain started around noontime today and is much lighter now but not totally out of the area. A local gauge indicates we have picked up about an inch and a half of rain so far. Trails will be too wet to ride for a few days. Please do not ride wet trails!
Thank you!

Bartram West has been reopened by the USACE. Thanks to all the volunteers that worked this past weekend to make it possible. Be aware that there are still many wet spots. We ask that you ride through the center of the wet spots to avoid widening the trail. Thanks for your support.

Two bridges were put back in place over the weekend and the timbers replaced in a couple of the larger dips. Trail is still pretty wet in spots but the trail, heading west out of the Petersburg trailhead, should be opened soon (it was still closed as of today).

We have had many reports of the trails at FATS still being far wetter than they should be. We have not had significant rain to feed these mucky spots and running water (could be related to the flooding we had at the end of the year and into this year) so do not know how long it will take to dry out. Please do not ride the trails at FATS it will damage the trail. Thank you! Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks so much for turning around once you realized the trails were too wet!
They do take longer during the winter months to dry but we have never seen conditions like this with the rainfall we have had. Only 3 inches of rain for the entire month of January and most of that was spread fairly lightly through the month. The only heavier rain we have had was over a week ago and that was around an inch and a half. Normally with the month like it has been and that rain on the 22nd the trails should have been good to ride after 3 or 4 days at the most. I really think the flooding in the area must be keeping the underground water at a much higher level than usual and is feeding the seeps.
We did recommend that riders let FATS dry out a couple more days but I think that with the beautiful weather over the weekend they didn't resist. I did have a few reports of riders heading out and then turning back as you did. Thanks so much for all of you who do that to protect these trails!

Scout recon on Thursday indicated trails are still much wetter than expected. Will probably be another couple of days before things dry out enough to ride.
