SORBAcsra is celebrating our 25th Anniversary! We couldn't have gotten here without all of the great member support and hard work, and are thankful beyond measure. Our members keep this organization and its very important mission going, and as we strive to build new membership, we have noticed that many previous memberships have lapsed. Currently we have 159 regular members plus 14 new members, but 25 members who have lapsed; thus, we are losing members faster than we are getting new ones. We understand that life changes quickly, and interests shift to different sports and time commitments. But if any of our 25 lapsed members are still trail users, please renew right now, we need you! And for current members or those who renew lapsed memberships, auto-renew is offered for your convenience - please select this option and you won't have to think about it again! Our solid base of members have kept this organization going strong for 25 years! Help us celebrate by renewing your membership today! Thank you! ARE YOU AN INVISIBLE TRAIL USER? City, county, and state officials like to know the projects they back and finance are being used. Unlike the very visible hard surface bikers, runners, and walkers, trail users can be nearly invisible. Why? Even our most trafficked trails such as FATS and Bartram are off the beaten path, often you head to the trailhead and disappear into the forest alone and unnoticed. Not to mention our outlying trails like MODOC or Keg. This is not a bad thing, it’s actually one of the draws. However, as our trail community continues to grow, and we know it is, it can be very hard for the local land managers to SEE the growth, and understand the need for continued support. After all, they say, isn’t nearly 150 miles of singletrack trail enough? As we all know, trail activities are dynamic which continue to evolve. When we talk to land managers about committing to change and growth it is often a numbers game. Who do we represent, how many of you are there? Our membership number is the cleanest metric available to share. Unfortunately our membership numbers have remained static at around 175, despite the obvious increase in usage by a larger trail community. This invisible growth needs to be represented on the SORBA-CSRA membership rolls. Land managers are eager to provide opportunities for recreation, but which groups will get their support? Help us to share your voice. For only $39 per individual or $50 per family you can join the SORBA-CSRA team and help ensure the future of mountain biking, trail running, and hiking in our area. All of our trails are multi-use and all require your support to ensure maintenance and growth continue to occur. Please take a minute to click on the link below in the comments and join now while the May Membership Drive is going on. This will also enter you in the raffle for some amazing prizes. Thank you! Here at SORBA-CSRA, we understand that with your busy life as a mom or dad, business owner or student, etc it can be difficult to find the time to ride, run or hike the amazing trails in the CSRA--much less finding time to help in the never-ending task of trail maintenance. So until you can contribute a little sweat equity at one of our volunteer work parties, please consider becoming a member. Your $39 single or $50 family membership is essential to equipment maintenance, trail builds and trail enhancements. Adding your name to the membership rolls also provides for a stronger bargaining position with all of our land manager partners. Please consider joining today and partnering with like-minded trail users across the CSRA. Trails are in great shape! Might find a mucky spot or two, if so please stay in the middle of the trail. The foliage is already robust which always helps with drying out the trails. The high winds are likely to deposit trees and debris on the trails so heads up!

(Mar 13/3:00pm) FATS Update!
The trails at FATS are officially back open. There are some mucky areas, there are some areas with standing water to include about a dozen seeps that are still producing. But the majority of the trail tread is perfect. Please stay in the middle of the trail through any wet/mucky areas to keep the singletrack single!
The trails are opened and closed based on the condition of the most vulnerable trail. We are coming into the season of warmer temps and the growing season which typically equates to shorter and fewer closures.

Heads Up> Prescribed Burn - FATS South Trails!
We have received a notice from the US Forest Service, there will be a prescribed burn at FATS, south trails, in either the last week of March or first week of April 2024.
Plan accordingly if you were traveling into our area since we won’t get much warning. They will be waiting until conditions are optimal for the burn so it will probably be the day of the burn when we get word. These generally do not take very long and once the trails are checked to ensure there are not any safety hazards, the trails will be opened back up.
The prescription for a prescribed burn is correct relative humidity, winds, temperature and fuel moisture which is why the timing must be last minute.
Stay tuned for more updates! Please help spread the word!
