(Oct 20/11:30am) FATS Update!
We can’t control the weather only report on it but this is a good report. The front passed through and dumped less than 2/10 inch in the vicinity of FATS. That’s just enough to knock the dust for tomorrow’s FATS Flow Master VII.
We’ll keep an eye on it for the rest of the day but predictions are looking good! Should be a great day with great temps for the Flow Master!!!!

FATS is officially back open! Most of the trails will be hero dirt but there will still be some wet/mucky areas. Please help keep the singletrack single by staying in the middle of the trail in those mucky areas.

FATS Update!
FATS is under official closure by the US Forest Service.
The system that rolled through starting yesterday afternoon dropped about 3 inches of rain in the vicinity of FATS. It has been dry for a while but cooler temps and overcast skies will impact the drying out process. Stay tuned for updates.

FATS area received approximately an inch of rain this morning and will need at least 24 hours to get dried out. Please allow time for the FATS to dry out before using the trail system, Thank you!!

FATS area picked up about an inch of rain over approximately 3 hours this morning. Trails will need time to dry out but should be fine by sometime tomorrow. Please allow time for the trails to dry out before using them. Thank you!

(Aug 30/8am) FATS Update!
FATS is under official closure by the US Forest Service due to the potential impact by Hurricane Idalia. Please do not access the trails during the closure. Stay tuned for updates!
Please avoid all local trails if high winds are predicted due to this hurricane. After these weather events we generally end up cutting quite a few trees off the trails. Thank you!

System rolled through late yesterday evening dropping about an inch of rain in the area around FATS. Should dry out within 24 if we don’t receive additional rain unfortunately more rain is in the forecast this week.

Work Party Update!
We are beginning to wrap up the 2023 summer foliage maintenance season. The remaining large work party will be on National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23rd. The segment of trail being worked is the Bartram west. This coincides with the US Army Corp of Engineers work day on National Public Lands Day. The plans are being finalized for this segment of trail. If you can help please reach out to us at sorba.csra@gmail.com
The work party scheduled for September 9th at Hickory Knob State Park has been put on hold for now. There are a few other cleanup projects that will be underway at the discretion of the trail champion(s) for those trails.
There will be some cleanup prior to the FATS Flow Master VII, we will post if we need additional volunteers!

(Aug 13/9am) FATS Update!
Although the system that rolled through last night looked ominous it dumped most of its rain west of FATS, up to an inch in some places. According to the gauges FATS only received about 1/10 inch of rain so trails should be good to go!
Again, it’s almost never evenly disbursed so if you find otherwise please let us know!

The work party this morning is underway on Bartram east from Petersburg to Lake Springs. We still need one more volunteer in order to complete the work on Bartram east tomorrow (Lake Springs Loop and area near West Dam).

Between 6:30pm and 8:30pm a fast moving system swept through the area dropping app 1 1/2 inches of rain in the vicinity of FATS per the gauges we use. The trails will need app 24 hours to dry out. Thank you!

2023 Foliage Maintenance Schedule
Please take a look at the schedule below and if you can help at any of the upcoming work parties please contact us at sorba.csra@gmail.com
If we do not get enough volunteers for a work party we will cancel that work party and move on to the next one. It takes a lot of work to prep for a work party and to mobilize the equipment.
There are 9 weekends between now and October. October is a month full of events, some of which count on these trails being mowed/trimmed. We have more than 9 work parties between now and then to hit all the trails. Please lend a hand if you use the local trails and/or help spread the word. Thank you!!
