Rode Wine last night, relatively good shape. 3 non-riders down, Key Rd side of the ravine; 2 step-overs and 1 bushwhack.

I cut the tree on DS yesterday. Sorry, bad judgement. I will stick to Modoc from now on, promise.

I cut a non rider a little past the "A" sign and a small cedar at the top of the 3-mile hill. With what we cleaned up Thursday night, the trail is great to the 4-mile bridge. Didn't make it past there Thursday night.

no rumor, all fact. A few of us (the lucky ones) will be keeping the TIBCO women again.

We have all marveled at the out-of-town visitors to FATS, but this last Sunday was over the top. Some folks from the Bakers Dozen event- the 4 man team from Charleston ("go Honey") and their wives were riding. A big van with trailer from Georgia Southern pulled in- not the bicycle team but kids from the outdoors club- about a dozen. A couple from Charlotte that were in the area for a wedding but wanted to try FATS. But the kicker was a full size tour bus pulled into the lot. I thought they were lost and turning around, but no- 30 people from Ft. Lauderdale (Club Mud I think) were on a long weekend trip. Blankets Creek Friday, Chicopee Woods Saturday, and FATS Sunday. Unbelievable.

Trail is clear to the "A" point, SO and I walked the dogs this far today. Need a couple of guys to carry a tree off the trail just past the first creek. We cut a big mess of trees at the 2 mile point. In fact, they may have landed on the 2-mile post since I can't find it anymore. Let me know if there are any trees that need cutting further out.

I cut 6 trees on the Lakeview loop and 8 on Turkey Ridge this morning. Luke lost his bear bell somewhere in the 2-3 mile area. I piled some limbs at the first, important, hard right turn on TR, trying to block the (wrong) track that goes straight. TR still needs some love. SO and I lopped the big loop last week when we took the dogs for a hike.

For the first time rider, yeah, but only cause we're spoiled around here. Many areas, like Pisgah, are confusing unless you've had some help. I'll be glad to meet you there after work.

We rode from Washington Road towards Petersburg last night- got to about the 10 mile mark before turning around. We cleaned two downed trees, using only a handsaw (and BF&I), and the rest of the trail was in great shape.
By the way, nice carved initials DP!!!

We had a good group ride Thursday afternoon and wanted more so DK and I did a lap this morning and then cut most of the trees on the trail. My saw took an inopportune break so we left one tree, though it has an almost on-trail bypass. This is really a great old school trail. Some of the features make it more cool than Modoc, though I'm the only one that can say that..........

Trail was in great shape last night except for 4 trees down right at the beginning of section 3 (cw) where the previous mess was. The trees are relatively small- half hour work at most. We hand-sawed one tree and cleared some other areas. It's only been 4 days!!! Otherwise, I had fun on John Fender's white lightning (29" HT, 21 lb).

632 goes to the "A" post, which is just up the hill from the 2-mile post. Bridge to nowhere is a little further out, about 2.4 miles.

David K and I cleaned Modoc on July 16th. Even cut a tree on the forest service road going to the rear access cul-de-sac. Trail is in good shape.

Just about all of Turkey has now been mowed or hand lopped. I got the remainder of the downed trees.

Happened to go to Harbison State Forest on Sunday; the better half ran a trail race. Anyway, I rode 3 of the loops and thought it was very nice. The Spider Woman loop had some very steep sections that I didn't clean and there was one nice section of switchbacks and rocks that was tricky. There are probably some great views of the river in the winter with the leaves down. The Lost Creek trail is in a very open forest, very good flow to the trail. I had heard there was lots of sand, but I didn't see any problems. The trail is right near the intersection of I-20 and I-26 in Columbia, so is probably closer for the folks in North Augusta than Hickory Knob. Parking is $5, an annual pass is $25- I wonder if that will get you in Baker Creek as well? So I think it is worth the trip for something different; plus some great restaurants in Columbia. this should be a link to the trail map page- www.state.sc.us/forest/refhartg.htm
