WOW! WOW! WOW! Rode Wine this morning. Sweated like there was no tomorrow. Absolutely love this trail. Thanks so much for all the help in keeping this trail open. I will admit that at times I wonder if it is even worth it to maintain this beast, but a ride like this morning keeps the faith alive. MD Have a feeling that this week will get us a bunch of miles on TC and WC. They have received a lot of love this year. All deserved. Can't wait until post-spider season is upon us.

Wine Creek is just great right now.
It is worth the annual mowing, hedging. But I'd rather reroute as much of the bottom 2.5 miles as we can. I love the ride, but it is alot of work to keep it open each year.

Good ride on Wine last night. The work done was amazing, sorry I missed the work party. We cleared out a couple of new deadfalls, so the trail is still clear except for the spider webs.
I was surprised to run into 2 riders from Aiken coming from the other direction. I've never seen anyone else on this trail.

I started riding Wine yesterday around 4:30, started at Key Rd. and I had to have gone through 20 spider webs in the first mile . I am borderline arachnaphobic so this was just too much for me. I tucked tail and headed back to the truck. I stopped off at Petersburg on the way home and did about 12 miles on Bartram. I did not hit even one web out there. I really want to ride Wine (Yesterday was my first try) but I will have to have someone out in front to clear out the 8 legged inhabitants.

The northern half is in a more open forest, and there's a lot less webs. The best riding is in the northern half IMO, more climbing (tho still very little) and the rocky sections, the southern half is just flat riding thru a tunnel of green.

Back before Bartram Trail, Wine Creek was the closest thing we had to a beginner's trail. If we did a beginning ladies ride or anything involved less experienced riders, that was the go to trail!

Rode Wine, Modoc & Turkey today. There were 2 trees down on the upper part of Wine above the big dip, 1 more toward the Key Rd end. Other than that the trail is good to go.

Rode Wine last night, relatively good shape. 3 non-riders down, Key Rd side of the ravine; 2 step-overs and 1 bushwhack.
