Julie and I rode Modoc Saturday for the first time. The fallen tree above the trail in the picture is not what caught my eye, it's the white post.

Well now that just beats everything! Looks like we'll have to wait until I get back from El Paso on Thursday before I can post a new picture in our game. I'm travelling with my work laptop that has all sorts of cool security features on it that won't allow me to access my picture albums. Oh well, I guess that gives everybody a chance to get out and ride and take note of the cool stuff along our trails so you'll be able to identify the next one I post! So until I get back, be safe! JL PS. I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about this new game and I want you to know I appreciate it. I'm having fun with it too.

I am so glad to be back from my trip to Texas! And to come back to the news that Augusta's been selected for the 2010 IMBA Mountain Bike World Summit is just plain fantastic!! Wow!! I saw some great places to ride out in the Franklin Mountains of El Paso, but it was a work trip so no bike. I hear the weather's been pretty good while I was away so I'm hoping everybody got a chance to ride. With that in mind, here's the next interesting trail feature for you to identify! Remember, you have to correctly identify the trail and the approximate location by mileage, trail section, or reference to a prominent feature such as a road crossing and/or bridge. The prize for this one is a brand new threaded CO 2 cartridge to help you out with that next flat! Good Luck and thanks for playing! JL

OK...I have no guess on this latest pic but I have to comment that on the first two features you took pics of I found myself going by both of them saying to myself dang there it is LOL. Had to try not to wrench my head all the way around to take a second look. Guess I just could have stopped but the grin on my face was suffice enough LOL. Thanks for starting this thread. It great fun and makes me want to ride all the area trails more. Thanks for the motivation.

I know I've seen this before. It's at FATS somewhere. I don't know the exact spot though.

I know where this is, but since I do not need a CO2 cartridge, I am not telling where it is. I saw it this morning while riding with BrianW. He already had a good idea where it was, but was a little off. He knows his local trails like the back of his hand. Enjoyed the ride Brian.

I know where it is as well.. But, I'm not allowed to say, even though I wasn't with him when the picture was taken.

John, This is a fun game that you started. It kind of made me look more at the trail surroundings today than just the tread. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for the kind words John! You my friend have discovered the reason I came up with the game in the first place.
We are all fortunate in that we get to enjoy a sport that puts us in some beautiful and amazing surroundings. It doesn't even matter where the people who read this forum ride whether they be local or out of state. There are cool things to see every time we ride and that makes me enjoy it all the more.
Now if I can just get a picture of one of those darn cavys!

Since its been 4 days I'll submit the location.
FATS, Great Wall loop cw about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the "great wall" (100' of broken concrete)
or what i would say the bottom of the final climb out going ccw which was the direction money and I were riding.

DING!! DING!! DING!!!! Congratulations Brian, you're the winner! That's exactly where this tree is located. I was thinking you might be posting a picture of you standing beside the tree to prove you know where it is. Thank you also for being a good sport and giving other folks a chance to guess the location. For your correct identification, you win a brand new threaded CO 2 cartridge that can come in handy in a pesky flat situation. I'll see you at the July club meeting to present your prizes! Thanks to everybody for playing! I'll have a new feature posted soon.

Well now here's a cool picture of a trailside feature provided to me from one of our distinguished members of this forum. In addition to the picture, I've been provided the name of the trail and the exact location of this feature. If you think you know where it is, just post your response to this thread. If you're correct, you'll win a fabulous prize!! The prize for this one is a brand new T-Shirt size XL. (No it's not one of my previously worn ones!) But remember the catch...you have to show up at the next monthly SORBA-CSRA Chapter meeting to claim your prize! So if you're out riding the trails and have your camera with you, take a few photos of something cool and send it to me @ j.liebe3@comcast.net. If it isn't something I've already used for the game, I'll use your photo. Of course we have to have some rules for this so here they are: - pictures must be of a trail feature that can easily be seen from the trail - pictures must be in focus and taken with digital camera - pictures must be taken by you so there are no copyright issues - picture submittal implies permission to use in this game - pictures must include trail name and exact location of feature - pictures of course must be in good taste and something you wouldn't mind your Mom seeing - And of course, you are disqualified from guessing the location of your own picture if/when used! That's all the rules I can think of right now. If I think of anymore I'll let you know. I can't wait to see what cool things you've seen that I haven't yet. I know this will make me want to ride more to see them as well! Be safe! JL

That's a spot right next to a full suspension Kona. Maybe somewhere on Wine Creek.

Hahaha!! That's funny! Now Bill I figured you'd be one of the guys who'd get this right off since it is on one of your favorite trails.
But while Wine Creek is an excellent guess, it is however...incorrect.
Thanks for playing!

That's a spot right next to a full suspension Kona. Maybe somewhere on Wine Creek. I was gonna guess Modoc @ 1st major creek crossing next to a FS Kona. What a great game! The older trails are easier for me to ID simply from riding them so much. The ones at FATS I don't recognize so much as my head is down watching the trail most of the time. PS If I'm right I'll pass the shirt on to another to win. You'd know why if you could see my closet. Nothing like 18 years of bike t-shirt collecting.

Hey Todd! Nice to see you in the game! You've made a great guess in selecting Modoc as the trail. Unfortunately, it is incorrect this time.
I like it that you like the older trails too...this one is from one of our older trails and it's a good one.
So far everybody's been spot on in that this feature was located next to a FS Kona bike at the time the picture was taken. However, I'm looking for a permanent reference point such as an access road, mile marker, or trail section.
Glad you like the game and thanks for playing! JL

Well then I'll have to say 1.0-2.0 miles into Wine coming from HWY283 before the big ditch? Sorry I can't be more accurate. I don't use a computer on my bike.
