Hmmmm.....I thought this one would be located by now. Well everybody knows it's at Modoc so I'll give it until tomorrow before we either have a winner or I'll reveal its location so you can find it next time out.
I already have an interesting feature for the next round of play!
Be safe!

I hardly ever notice this kind of stuff. There's no time to look around when you're going as fast as me. (or maybe it's because I'll crash bad if I don't pay close attention to the trail....na, that can't be it.)

Hahaha...I've been wondering where you've been Dustin. I thought maybe you were laying back because you know right where this stuff is!
Anyway, glad you're back!

Since I'm working at SRS now, I can't get on here during the day anymore. And after 10-12 hrs at work, when I get home, I don't care to get back on the computer much. I'm still here though

I believe it is further out than 4 mile bridge. Near the 5 mile mark.

If Brian's answer is not correct, then somewhere near the tough switchback that is at a bridge.

Brian, you are closest! You are only off by a 1/2 mile! So I am going to declare you the winner and award you the prize! You win the Shimano front derailleur!
I won't be able to attend the meeting Tuesday night as I'll be in Texas, but I'll get this to Paul so he can bring it to you.
This tree is located at the end of Modoc just past the 5 1/2 mile marker. When you reach the spot where you can stop at the intersection, the tree is on the left just off the trail. If you turn left at this point, this takes you to the entrance of Modoc that the SMC racers came in on. They would have had to make a right turn on to Modoc trail within 10 feet of this tree.
The opening in that tree is large enough you could squeeze in there if you wanted to. Keep an eye out for it next time you ride this great trail!
Thanks for playing everybody! I'll be posting the next trail feature soon. Hopefully it will be a little easier.

Here is the next trail feature in our game! I always think things like this are pretty cool and wonder what they'll look like 50 years from now. The winner receives a brand new water bottle! But remember the catch...you have to show up at the next monthly meeting to claim your prize!! Just as before, you have to identify the trail it's on and where on that trail in order to win the prize. The where can be made in reference to the name of a trail section, a mileage post, and/or access road. Thanks for playing and Good Luck! JL

Great Wall Loop. CCW, about 2 miles in.
No doubt that trail is machine built.
How the hell do you find these things?

Hey Lander! Long time no hear! Excellent guess my friend but I'll have to hit the buzzer on that one! But good try though!
Are you still interested in joining the Bike Patrol? If so, check out the Bike Patrol board...we have a class scheduled for July 11.
Thanks for playing!

Good guess Bill but you're a little off on this one.
I like how the tree on the left has limbs that are now growing vertical from the main trunk.

I have something to donate as a prize for the next picture - a brand new set of WTB "Trail Grips" www.wiggle.co.uk/images/WTB-wtb202-zoom.jpgI won them somewhere over a year ago and they've been sitting in my closet. I use Ergon grips, so I have no use for them.

Thanks for the donation Dustin! I really appreciate it! If anybody else has anything pertaining to mountain biking laying around and would like to make a donation to our Chapter for the purposes of this game, please feel free to do so. Many thanks for your consideration! John, I think somebody else guessed Great Wall on the previous page but while that is a very good guess, it is not the location of this particular set of trees. Thanks for playing! JL

Ding Ding Ding!!!! We have a WINNER!!!!! Way to go Brian!! This is your second win!! You just won a brand new water bottle!!
These trees are located exactly where Brian indicated on the section we call the lollipop stick to Deep Step. Thanks for playing Brian! You can pick up both your prizes at Tuesday night's Chapter meeting at Nacho Mama's.
I'll post another cool trail feature in just a short while. The prize for that one will be a brand new pair of L/XL socks from the Bicycle Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona!

Take a look at this fantastic trailside feature! I just had to stop and take a picture of this one. Okay you know the drill...first one to correctly identify the trail and the approximate location referenced to a mile marker, trail section, and/or access road wins a great new prize. The prize for this one is a brand new pair of size L/XL Hincapie cycling socks with the distinctive Bicycle Ranch logo on them. They are red, white and black. Perfect for a Georgia Bulldog fan! I picked these up on my last trip to Scottsdale, AZ. Remember...in order to claim your prize, you must come to the next monthly SORBA-CSRA Chapter meeting! Thanks for playing! JL

Now that sounds like a guess from a man who's recently rode the Modoc Trail!!
DING!! DING!! DING!!!! Congratulations JP!! You're the next winner in the "How Well Do You Know Your Trails?" game!!
If you look close you can see that white post John is talking about! That's my good friend Jon Taylor and his dog Luke heading off down the trail in front of me as I stopped to take the picture.
JP, I won't be able to bring your socks to you until next month's meeting as I'll be heading to Texas tomorrow and won't be back until Thursday. But don't worry...I promise not to wear them between now and when I see you again to give them to you!
Thanks for playing everybody! I'll post the next trail feature in a short while.
Be safe! JL
