My hat is off to all who put it on. I talked to Bill earlier today, and we agree that this can easily be an event that can grow to double or triple its size in no time flat. I have done many different long distance events, and I thought the feed stations on this one were great and the right distance apart. Only thing I would do next year is make sure you have hardware cloth on ALL bridges. I saw three crashes on Wine Creek bridges, and one on the Modoc Bridge of Death. Not one had cloth on it. Again, hats off to Paul and Justin (I think thats his name (I saw him on the road at one point and thanked him as I was spinning my a$$ off on my singlespeed) Angela, Daniel, Cody and the rest. I'll be back again next year. We'd love to put on a little event up on the Long Cane if anyone is interested. Heck, as well as you guys did with the SMC, we might just need to resurrect the Long Cane Massacre Ride.

I am planning a ride this SUnday (4-20-08) that will start at Wine Creek on Hwy 283 and go to Modoc, then back. It is 54 miles. A small group from Greenwood may join me, and all this is contingent on weather and this fire issue. Does anyone know if the burning has taken place? I dont mind riding amongst the smoldering embers. There is a tough climb that starts in Spartanburg at the auditorium and ends at the top of Mt. Mitchell. Toughest mtb climb around here is starting at the bottom of the hiking trail at Parsons Mtn and riding up the back side (goldmine trail) to the firetower. Of course it is not legal, so we NEVER do that. Also, we can take you on a nice ride with plenty of climbs at Isaqueena.

How about these: 1. I only talk a good fight. 2. I might get a saddle sore and it will hurt the rest of the holiday season as I sit around on my rear end. 3. I would hate to get one of my breasts caught up in a spoke. 4. There's a yawning festival I just have to attend. 5. I anticipate not feeling good on that day. 6. Thats Pearl Harbor Day, and I have to stay home and watch Pearl Harbor. ;D 7. Give money for a good cause??? I already gave at the office. 8. The cold weather makes my nipples get hard, then they get rubbed raw on my jersey. 9. I did a work party three years ago. 10. I hate that sound when a leaf gets caught in my wheel. 11. Georgia is in the SEC Championship. This only happens once every 20 or so years. 12. The negative dual ocillating air chamber release Johnson rod in my fork is low.

I say start at West Dam, ride it then to Lick Fork, Modoc, Turkey and Wine. Camp at Hamilton Branch, then the next morning, head out to PB, BC, and HKSP.

You should come out and ride tomorrow (tues) night. Will cook steaks and drink a beer or two after the rider.

Michael, you live in Calhoun Falls? Have you ever ridden with the group out of Greenwood on Tues and Thurs evenings at the LCHT?

It just gets better and better every year. Paul and Daniel (who were the "facemen" of the event) made it look easy. We did not race, but instead "donated" our money to CSRA-SORBA and rode without #'s and kept two young riders company on their laps. However, we talked to everyone we saw on the trail, and they all loved it and the event. I did not hear of anyone complaining about stopping the event. Good call. We also talked to some folks from NWGA who loved it.

Hey, that CSRA championship belt needs to be coming the Greenwood way. 29 laps with a co-ed team, mechanicals, two team members at 39 and 40 years old, and we had to keep the dog from pissing on everyone's bikes like he did at the Bakers Dozen...Team Morning Wood was the definite shocker. If we would have been three minutes quicker, we had lap 30 standing there ready to go. Give up the belt B.V. Timmy
