Since last Sunday's Explore the Trail Ride was cancelled do to rain, let's try it again this Sunday, December 15th at 1:30 (WEATHER PERMITTING). We will meet at Mistletoe's back door entrance off Ridge Rd. Come a little early so we can try to leave at 1:30. Although the weather is not looking real good for the upcoming weekend, let's keep our fingers crossed that we will have some dry conditions. Check back here Saturday evening or Sunday morning for an update on the ride.
To get to Mistletoe's back door: Go out Washington Rd, go straight through Pollards Corner, cross Keg Creek bridge go 1.7 miles turn left on Ridge Rd, go 1/2 mile to stop sign go straight, continue down Ridge Road for 1 mile, when paved road curves left, GO STRAIGHT ON DIRT ROAD FOR 200 YARDS TO PARKING AREA.
Hope to see your there.

Let's try and unofficial Explore the Trail ride SUNDAY, November 24th at 1:00pm on Wine and or Turkey trails. Both trails need wheels on them. Right now Wine Creek is in great shape, it just needs wheels on it. If you do both trail (about 25 miles), it will be a great warm-up ride for the Snake pre-ride on December 7th. The weather should be great, maybe a little cool so bring your arm and leg warmers. We can meet at the trail parking off Key Rd on left just before the bridge. We will try to leave right at 1:00 so come a little early.
Post here if you think you can make it.

Banks, Chuck and I rode Wine on Saturday. Thanks Becky, Nevin, Joy and Tom for all of your hard work. The trail is in great shape, it just needs wheels on it and maybe a rake, lol. Lots of leaves down on parts of the trail, some times hard to follow.

We are going to ride Modoc Trail Sunday morning 10/27/13 at 10:00. We will treat this ride like an Explore the Trail ride where we will stop at all the trail features and discuss how they should be ridden and give everybody a chance to ride them. If you have never ridden this trail, this will be a great time to make it your first Modoc ride, if you have ridden it many times please come and help us out or come and just ride the trail. The weather should be perfect for riding this Sunday.
For you local bike shop guys and gals it will be a great time for y'all to come join us.

Unfortunately the gate won't keep the hard asses out. They will just park on the road somewhere and use another access point. If the USFS doesn't have time to open and close gates, they sure don't have time to patrol the trails for poachers.

DO NOT RIDE THE CANAL TRAIL I did a recon on the Canal Trail this afternoon, it's in the worst shape I have ever seen it. I could not get in the south entrance. The red clay hill just before going under Riverwatch Pkwy has water running down it and it's like a slip-n-slide. I went in at the main trail head, the trail is real muddy in the usual spot and muddy in a lot of places I've never seen muddy before. There is one tree down on the pond side that I should be able to remove without any problems. There is another tree down on razors edge, it's going to take a big boy saw to remove that one. There was a 20 foot section just past the big gulley that is under water from the river. Three section of razors edge has fallen in the river, the good new though is a reroute shouldn't be too difficult. EDIT: Pics added River water flooding the trail First of three different sections of trail that failed. Big tree on Razors Edge Second section of trail that failed Third section of trail that failed

Don't forget the Canal work party this Sunday May 26th at 8:00am. Meet at the Goodrich St gate at 8:00am sharp. We will all go in together and lock the gate behind us. If you are late, you can park at the Eisenhower field and walk in.
Bring gloves, water, bug spray, we will have the DR mowers, gas hedge trimmers, weed eaters and lopping shears. You can bring any personal tools if you would like to.
See you on the trail,
John Pilcher

We had 13 people show up today on the 13th day of the month in the 13th year. Drew, Michael, Keith, Banks, and Chad took care of the mud pit by running new pipe to route the water under the trail, Stan, Travis, and Robin ran the gas powered hedge trimmers and cleared Razors Edge and the two way section and other places on the trail, Kim weed eated where needed and that left John, Julie Sherri, Ross and his son to lop and clip. It was a great turnout of volunteers today, we got a lot done, the trail is in great condition and is ready for the time trials on February 8th. If you see any of these volunteers be sure to thank them for their work on the trail.

Best of luck to all of our local riders. Wear those SORBACSRA jerseys proudly (at the pre-ride we had the best looking jerseys). I'm with Angela, I wish I could be a the finish line to cheer all of you in at the end.
