I have yet to do a better 34 mile MTB ride in my life. Ever.
This one is it.
I never knew NGA had this. By far the best ride in GA. One of the better in the SE.

Snake pre-ride is December 8th. Free. Free shuttle to the start. Very good chance of free Augusta area guide(s) for the 17 or 34 mile route. Can't beat that. Experience the Snake without the anxiety of a race.
Last year, 3 cars full of locals drove up to the 'nooga on that Friday morning and rode Racoon Mtn in afternoon. I hope there are plans to do that again.
Lots of folks have expressed interest in riding the (17 mile) Snake route (probably because if I can do it, anyone can do it). Check your calendars, talk to your boss, ask your spouse because you don't want to spend another year thinking that you woulda, coulda, shoulda.

A lot of people say "I'll do it next year" every year. Just pay your money now, then your committed! Knowing this ride is in your future is a great motivator to get off the couch and in your bike when the weather is crappy. In fact, embracing crappy weather and learning how to deal with it before the race will make the race a lot easier. I assume you're in for this year dsquared? What about you seenvic?

In for sure. Really missed doing 2 of the 3 the races last year. This is by far my favorite race every year. I don't do well with extreme events in the heat and I almost never have to worry about that with this one.
This will be my fourth year and I've managed to better my time each race. Hoping to do that again this year. For me there's no satisfaction like finishing this race each time.
Raccoon Mountain would be fun to do again before the preride.

FYI space is limited for the official pre-ride. You have to RSVP, and only the first 70 folks get a spot on the shuttle, everyone else has to arrange their own shuttle. Check the Snake facebook page for details.

We had a great time at the Snake pre-ride today. SORBACSRA was well represented. (Now we just need to get Stan and Frankie into a cool club jersey...not the SAME club jersey either.) Koz, JP, Tammy, Frankie and I did the 17 miler and the rest of the dudes did the 34 and killed it! This is a great trail and a beautiful forest to spend the day in. Don't let the rocks deter you from trying this race because all you have to do it hike a bike over the stuff that makes you uncomfortable and soon you will be riding things you never thought you could do. It is a true adventure!

Awesome! Looking forward to hearing what some of the first timers thought about it.

Just love seeing such a large local group representing the CSRA at an event like this. Outstanding weather and trail conditions made it a ride to remember. Always more fun completing a challenge like this with a like minded group.
Hope everyone here does the actual race series. It's even more fun when you cross the finish line and get the chilli and cobbler. With the other regulars that didn't make the pre-ride, we'll have the CSRA well represented.

Nevin and I are officially signed up for the series! I'm seriously considering doing the 34 miler for all three and will try to get Koz on board as well. What a great motivator to stay in shape over winter.

What a great motivator to stay in shape over winter. Becky...not sure if you should do the 34 or not. It might result in irreparable damage to my ego to get beat by a girl. Glad you guys are signed up! Dsquared needs to do the 34 too. He's ready.

That's the spirit . It is a great Winter event.
Wearing the local colors was cool as well. Someone stranger hollered out "Hey Augusta" as I went by. That was neat.

FYI - price goes up soon registration closes TODAY. If you're on the fence, sign up now! I'm excited. Here's an older pic I dug up, from my first trip to the Snake in '09. I seriously had no clue what I was getting myself into.
