My photo with Shrimper's kids is not from the Great Wall. Skinny, right? Rachel led that group. AH was so excited to help with that section. If this is the place I am thinking, for some wacked out reason, I always sing (silently) Alice's Restaurant as I go over the carefully placed rocks. MD

Correct. The boys are riding CW on Skinny. Alice is pictured with two old school SORBA folks....Bruce Dickman and Jay Franklin. Both came over from Atlanta for the grand opening work/ride.

KC....That photo above is at the new Bartram Trail, I think. The pic KC posted sure looks like Great Wall to me....but I could be wrong. That is the GW. I was wrong. But it isn't the rock on GW I thought Doug's pic came from. But I could be wrong on that too. I hardly ever ride GW CW, and I usually come over that rock riding towards the photographer. I would call this line a "drop" line more than a jump line. The one I am calling a jump line is a different rock and if you rode the "jump line", you will fly at least 15-20 feet before you hit the spot we built for the landing. You would also lose about 6 feet of elevation when you jump. It is fairly big and thus the reason I don't ride it and the reason the line went away for a lack of locals who do ride that stuff. The one I am talking about is a ways past the rake n ride. The rock you have above is just outside the rake n ride by 100 feet or less.

I hardly ever ride GW CW, and I usually come over that rock riding towards the photographer. KC's pic isn't the rock that I posted for sure. Your description of the line following it around the left is accurate, I think that you and I are talking about the same rock. If there was ever a jump line over that rock, it had to have been a doozy, that's a big 'ol rock! I can see how there would be a line to it though. Just as you are exiting a left hand bend traveling CCW the rock is just ahead. The trail continues a slight bend to the left to go around the rock, but would straighten out nicely if taking a path towards the rock. Here's another pic that may help to see the line a little better. Looks like the old line would have split off around where that small sapling is at just in front of the "4th" rider back. These pics were snapped in July 2008, so I'm sure it looks a little different now. Nice pic of the armoring of Skinny Bill. And the one of MB and Rich. It's awesome to get a little history lesson as well as a fun game from these pics.

I can ride on the rock, but have no interest in taking the jump line down the lower landing area. Marco is the best I've seen at riding this rock (but not jumping off it) about everytime. With the line to the left of the rock so well defined, it is hard "to get over" to the line you need to be on to ride the rock.
OT, speaking of riding over rocks....I notice the line up and over a large rock near Big Rock Proper is getting use.
Doug....I post pics of people working because that is what I have pics of!

It's awesome to get a little history lesson as well as a fun game from these pics. +1....I really enjoy seeing the older pictures of the trails, it's neat to see how the trails began, especially for someone new to the sport like me Too bad some of the "funner" features are being lost like they are. I'll definitely be looking for that rock next time out.

OK, here's an easy one. ;D We were ten minutes from you on this day, so I will stay mum on this pic. You yelled "COW" and I started to yell something equally un-nice, but instead I got a nice whiff of cow-hide MD

Yea, I can't believe you guys didn't see him, I think you were less than ten minutes from seeing me. I've told this story before, so someone else should know about it, but if nobody gets it in a reasonable amount of time, you can go ahead and grab the win.

I know where the cow pic is. However I will not say at this time. Believe it was posted here a few years back. I remember seeing prints and cow patties a few days later.

I didn't click on your link. No, you were not correct. Brian got it. Bartram Trail, Lake Springs, directly across from the boat launch ramp. At HKSP, the trail never is directly across from a boat launch ramp. I just keyed on your mention of the Lake loop and boat ramp and gave you the win. MD

(know where the cow is but have yet to to set up picture posting) OK, so the pic that MD posted is on Bartram? I said HKSP, not Bartram, so I was wrong. So why was it posted that I was right? MD, did you quote the wrong guess in that post? Now that post is gone. Looks like BrianW got it right instead of me. So, that being the case, and I know that BrianW knows where the cow pic was taken, he's up. BrianW, your turn bro. Just for the record, and for those wondering, the cow was on Brown Wave at FATS. I was riding CW and it was just before the second gravel road crossing, you can see it in the background. Pic was snapped 07/06/09. Honestly, I think that's what I told the cow, too funny!
