I rode 3 loops early Skinny, DS, BR and only saw 3 other riders. 2 w/ orange. Just remind them it is hunting season and they need to have orange. Most do not realize it. Also remind any that FATS is closed October 11-23rd.

It's for every trail except those inside parks. So, you should wear orange everywhere except:
Mistletoe State Park Canal Trail Hickory Knob State Park Baker Creek State Park
Anyone know about Boyd Pond? I'm guessing no hunting there...not positive.
There is no hunting in SC on Sundays. There IS hunting in GA on Sundays.

Wearing orange when on lands people are actively hunting is a good idea.
Riding a bike doesn't change this in any way.
It is common sense to wear orange during hunting season when out on lands where people are hunting, isn't it?

It is common sense to wear orange during hunting season when out on lands where people are hunting, isn't it? I wear orange when walking my private property, even though it's posted no hunting and no trespassing. USFS land (translates to public hunting land) borders it on one side. It only takes one bullet from one trigger happy fool sitting just across the fence line to put an end to my walk in the woods, so I wear orange whether I'm hunting or not. For sure I wouldn't take off on a bicycle riding right through the middle of a publicly hunted area without taking some precaution. Heck, now that I own a white bicycle, I have second thoughts about riding it during deer season, even while wearing orange.

As far as I know its bow season. Gun season doesn't start until next week. I could be wrong though, and would love to be corrected if I am. I worry a lot less about bow hunters than gun hunters. Also, the night riding right now is prime, and hunting after dark is illegal and kinda silly. Just sayin'.

Not a state park, but it is a park, and hunting isn't allowed there.
There are plenty of deer in the area though! I've almost hit them several times on night rides.

Lick Fork and Wildwood section of Bartram are also off limits to hunting.
Doesn't hurt to wear orange at all times this time of year - just make it a habit so you won't forget it.

According to the Georgia DNR gun season for deer in the northern zone (which includes Richmond, Columbia and Lincoln counties) is from October 16 - January 1st - those are the hunters we most want to notice us as we zip through the woods. Some hunting goes on all year long such as squirrels and the like.

The campground at Lick Fork may be off limits , but be assured that the Horn Creek trail is typically teeming with hunters all season. Horn is where some hunter friends of mine persuaded me to start wearing orange, years back. MD
