Looked around to see when the Explore the Trail was in September and did not see it. I believe it was scheduled for Turkey/Wine Sept 4th but am not 100% on that or the time.

The September Explore The Trail Ride will be the Wine and Turkey Creek Trails on Saturday September 4th. The Wine Creek Trail is 5 miles in & out (10 miles total) and the Turkey Creek Trail is 7 miles in & out (14 miles total). You can stop and turn around at any location on the trail. We will meet at the Wine Creek Trailhead on Hwy 283 at 9:00am. The will be ride leaders for all riding levels. This ride will be canceled if we have rain.

For planning purposes, I would suggest that those who haven't ridden these trails and may question whether they can manage the entire out and back of 24 miles to park your ride partner's vehicle either at Key road or the end of Turkey. That gives you options to stop if you run out of gas or have time constraints.

I may park at Price's Bottom and ride up to 283 to meet the rest of the CSRA riding clan, maybe at the end of Turkey and start earlier.

You can also loop back to the beginning of Wine on gravel and pavement which is an easy return if you're toast at the end of Turkey.

I always enter the trail off of Key road. Is the other trailhead where the work party met? If so I still have those directions you sent me.

From Key Br. continue driving north until you get to HWY 283. Turn Right. Go a few miles and Wine Creek TH is on the right.

Yup, that was me on the white Giant. You almost made it, I think you were only about a 1/4 mile or so from the end. My g/f and I should be able to make it Sat. We may end up just riding wine.. depends on how she feels at the end of wine, Going to pick her up a new bike on Friday. I'll probably hang back and ride at her pace with her so it's more enjoyable for her.

Who all is going Saturday?
Anyone interested in doing a 1 way ride from HWY 283 to the parking lot at Modoc, then getting a ride back to your car? It's about 27 miles.

I plan on being there. Depending how I feel after Wine I may ride Turkey. More than likely I will only ride Wine and a few miles of Turkey. 15 miles is about my limit right now.

I could do that, or just ride Turkey and Wine for 24 miles of all single. With fewer webs to clear on Modoc. But if you want to do that I will. Let me know. I think I may have Ted S with me. Not sure yet.

I was thinking about going bikepacking Friday night...but I don't care to clear webs all by myself from Modoc to HWY 283. Ugh. Can't wait till winter.

I still don't "like" the webs, but did a good deal of mental work this summer convincing myself they weren't that bad. I know I pulled thousands down this summer.

Out of the two trails, which one is easier. I did wine, and it seemed to be a pretty easy trail, just trying to decide which one would be easier/more enjoyable for my g/f.
