Definitely do not want to dismiss the hunting/hunters in our area (CSRA), but of all the trails in our area, it seems that the Bartram Trail (Lake Trail) is probably the safest of the non-state park trails to ride during hunting season. Extremely open with lots of day users on a routine basis. It is also near several road crossings. However...Wear your orange!
I have run into hunters on this trail. They have all been courteous. I have also run into tons of people (hikers and bikers) who had no idea they should be wearing orange (yes, I know there are plenty of signs to inform the un-informed). If you want to ride a "hunting" trail during hunting season, this is probably the safest one.
