I was reading on a previous thread that you guys are aiming for 400 members. I live near Columbia (no SORBA chapter here... yet), however, I have been traveling every weekend to your neck of the woods to ride.
What would a membership cost me and what does it entitle me to?

Although I can't answer your questions specifically, fwiw I'm a member of the CSRA chapter despite living over here in Cola as well. And for much the same reasons it sounds like: no local club + I ride CSRA trails alot. I've never been to a monthly meeting, an organized ride, or even a work day over there (although I've tried on the latter), but the "benefit" to me is that I'm contributing (at least contributing $$ and one body to the voting block) to the trails I ride. I think its well worth it.

$30 FOR SINGLE (COUNTS 1 PERSON),$35 FOR FAMILY (COUNTS 2 PEOPLE), YOU GET A NEWS LETTER, SOME COOL STICKERS, AND WHEN WE HIT THE MAGIC MEMBER NUMBER WE WILL GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD MORE TRAILS. PERSONALLY IT HAS INSPIRED ME TO GET MORE INVOLVED. OH, I'M NOT YELLING.

Thanks wooglin for being a member, and thanks to mtbazhiker for considering joining. There is a "join" link on the homepage for the CSRA chapter. Jimmy pretty much gave you the rundown. We really need the numbers to get bumped up here in the CSRA chapter. The number of trail miles we have in the local area is awesome, and our membership numbers need to support those miles.
Not everyone can do trail maintenance, or even attend the meetings (the first meeting I attended had five people, now we average 20), but your support via membership means a ton.

Oh yeah, I have to admit that one of the things I look for when I pull up to FATS or HC or whatever is for a little white SORBA sticker on the back of a vehicle. Kinda one of those "I pay my dues and ain't looking for handouts" kinda deals.
