The canal trail is BEAUTIFUL right now! Everywhere but the trail the ground is covered in these low, bright green plants w/lots of tiny white flowers. I'm not one to stop and look around when I'm riding, but I stopped several times yesterday to enjoy the view.
The trail is in great shape. It's just wet enough to make all the sand stick together. Still that one big tree down; the one w/the logs piled up on each side of it. The logs have started rotting away though...I didn't try and ride it.

If you didn't ride it, it must be pretty bad. I'll try and hook up with you next week ( after Masters). You in town next week?

Yeah...I'm riding out there Tues. evening with a buddy if you want to join us. Leaving work (at the enterprise mill) at 4:30, should be at the trailhead before 5.
The tree is actually really easy to ride going the "odd" direction (did it yesterday)...but I didn't mess with it riding the other direction.

I rode it yesterday. That tree isn't so bad to ride in either direction. Its more intimidating CCW, but IMO a little easier that way as well. Looks a lot worse that it is. Riding again today after work.

Cleared a bunch of low hanging stuff out of the way yesterday evening.

Rode Wed 4/30 at 6, can't believe we didn't run into you guys. Guess you noticed a tree down out at the pond, in the fastest section of the trail. Out of town this weekend but up for rides after work anytime next week.

We had a group of 4 there around 6:00. Yep, we saw tree down. Can just anybody go back there with a chainsaw and clear that?

I am suprised we didn't see you shortline...we got on the trail a little after 6, I'd say 6:10 at the latest. You may have been in front of us.
Also, I think you have to be chain saw certified to go in there and start cutting stuff out....
