I had two separate reports from two very reliable mountain bikers right around Thanksgiving of over twenty trees being down on Wine Creek (very disappointing since a week or so before that we had a crew go through and cut out quite a few trees Anyway we finally managed to get a work day planned and two great volunteers agreed to head back out to Wine to cut those trees out....imagine my shock when I got a telephone call from those volunteers asking where the trees were. They had hauled all that equipment in, chainsaw - fuel - etc and ridden the entire length of Wine Creek only to find that apparently someone had already cleared the trail of the trees. Now it might sound like I am griping but not really but please if you do significant work on a trail please let me know or post it on the forum or tell someone - those two volunteers could have been cutting the trees out on Turkey, or Hickory Knob, or working on some eroded areas on the Canal trail or even joining some of the rest of us on the FATS Sunday and of course since they had all that equipment to drag around it wasn't like they had a nice ride on the trail either. On the other side - thank you to whomever must have removed those trees!!!

So what you are saying is that the trail is clear and ready to be ridden....excellent! This along with Turkey Creek are two of my favorite trails in this area. It's good to see that the other trails in this area are not "forgotten" with all the attention the FATS has been given.-M

Yes Wine Creek is clear and ready to ride! We will work hard not to neglect the other trails while work is progressing on the FATS - just need to get through these holidays!!! We don't have any major issues on the other trails at this point. Baker is in great shape and our great friend and Baker ranger - Todd Rexrode - has blown off Baker Creek so it is ready to ride, there are a couple of trees down on Hickory Knob, Horn Creek is in great shape, there are a couple of erosion issues on the Canal Trail, the Bartram Lake Trail is great, Long Cane is great but watch trail conditions due to rainfall and horse access, Modoc is very ridable but has a some trees that need to be removed (hopefully overgrowth has died back by now), Turkey has a couple of trees down (hopefully foliage has died back), Dale Parrot and Charlie Mock have been whipping Keg Creek back into shape & Chris Foreman up in the Clemson area has been keeping the trails open as best he can with little help at Issaqueena.......so many trails......so little time to ride them all............so get out and ride for sure : )
