It appeared that Deep Step was open, so I rode it Monday. Overall it is in great shape. It is the best of the loops in my opinion. How much rain did we get last night? I suspect the trail will be fine given as dry as it was, and that the trees are now busting out. Thoughts?

Agree on all points. Deep Step is my fav as well. Not much rain, slow steady drizzle. Once it stops, give it a few hours. Deep Step may not be the best choice as it tends to stay the wettest (last loop built and soil issues in places).

FATS got dumped on hard last night. It was pouring at my house about a mile away.
Today and Friday would be days to use good judgement at FATS.
Saturday - calling for more rain all day.
I think we have reached the first test to see what folks learned from the 2 1/2 month closure.

I had planned on driving to FATS on Friday until I read your post. Did you check out the trail this afternoon and do you think it will be rideable Friday and Saturday? Thanks

Rick and all. Go ride FATS all you want on Friday.
Saturday too, unless we get the 100% chance of rain being called for.

I rode the FATS system Friday afternoon and it was bone dry, the rain either missed the trails or they dry incredibly quickly. This was the first time I rode Deep Step and it is an excellent addition. I've ridden a lot of trails and in my opinion FATS is the most fun, it is magical the way you seem to be going downhill more than up. One thing FATS is lacking is any long, steep climbs ( which many people don't like anyway). I hope that any loops that are built in the future include some ,although I know trails closer to the fall line are harder to make sustainable. Thanks again for building the most enjoyable trails in the Southeast and doing it so quickly!

The rain from Wednesday was really drained away by Thursday evening.
Right now, it's soaked. Sunday would NOT be a good day to ride FATS. Please don't ride out there Sunday April 15th.
