I've been working on the Brown Wave and Skinny lately. What I've seen out there is very dry, with a seep here and there. And every once in a while a pretty wet spot w/ mud and the whole nine yards.
I have not been on Deep Step since it closed. I have not been on the Great Wall since January. I don't know what those two are like and they tend to be the worst of the four.
The USFS has been asked about a re-opening date, and the best we've been told is "toward the end of this month". That was about March 1 or so. I emailed my contact yesterday and have not heard back.
There is a lot of "litter" on the trails.....vines, limbs, and trees (some of which need to be cut).
Working during the week.....how about this Thursday evening. Meet in the parking lot at 5:45. We'll work til about 7:45. I know what we can get done in that time. Let me know who's in, as I need to collect the tools from a remote location.

We got alot done in 2 hours w/ 3 adults and 2 kids. The amazing thing was one of the other guys has 4 kids and found the time to help out.
We covered about a little more than a mile on the Brown Wave. Cleaned dips and debermed places moving some water down the tread. Overall, a great night.
Sunday is huge. We need a big turnout.
FATS will re-open soon. Depends on the rain. And the turnout on Sunday.

A couple of us will be at FATS Saturday 'bout 8:30am laying out blocks, if anyone wants to join us there will be plenty to do, the 200 we moved last week are on the trail need to be set in place. If anyone plans to joining us let me know so we'll know what tools one of us need to bring.

My son and I will be there at 8-8:30, we will bring shovels for us and drinks for everyone. No need for a dictator, just a supervisor at most.

Yeah bring your bike, jim and i more than likely will not ride but we will be done by 11:30/12:00, maybe your son will rub off on mine,he's only coming because we are using jim's atv with trailer to get the block close to the trail, you guys plan like you want to. For everyone else having a son to bring is not mandatory.

Well, I guess now it is closer to the end of March, but WOW! These brand new loops of FATS were allowed time to regroup after the series of rains we had, and they are all the better for it. The tread is awesome, and with the work being put out by the volunteers right now, I am sure it will only get better. Thanks to all who stayed off FATS this winter. Go ride it now and you will be doing the same thing we all did last summer and fall: Grin from ear to ear and whoop it up!
