I just moved back into the area after being gone for over a year, and have been hot to trot to ride FATS ever since.. we finally did it recently and I've got to say that this trail system is a blessing to this area.. awesome diversity, close to town, etc. Great work! I need help, though.. We took a gander at the trail maps before we headed out but really never could tell which trails we rode. Here's what we did. We went left at the first intersection, then went straight at the next. We passed through what must have been 7-8 loops back across the fire road again and again, then went through a ton of rock gardens and a really nasty narrow stretch through the trees. Did camel bumps (is there a better word for those small hills you can get tons of air on?) several times. I was looking at the map and couldn't figure out exactly what we rode. I swear to God that we didn't see another split in the trail until just before we were done, so essentially we got really lost We rode for about 2.5 hours solid, so I'm betting we rode about 15-18 miles (bike computer is busted). Any ideas? Also, are there plans to post trail markers at the intersections? Can I help? Love the trail though! If I can figure out where to ride in more bite sized chunks for after-work rides, I'll be making that my default trail.

If I had to guess, I think you rode past Deep Step Loop and turned left at the Great Wall entrance. Crossed the gravel road and went straight on the short side of the Skinny. Since you crossed more gravel roads, you must have gotten on the Brown Wave. You probably then went left and took the long side of the Skinny back up the hill. You had to get on the Great Wall Loop as that is the narrow stretch. You probably then just came staight back into the parking lot after coming off the Great Wall. I would call the camel bumps "grade dips" if I was wearing a trail builder hat and "whoop-de-doos" if I was wearing a riders hat. Yes, you can help marking the trails. Not sure when we plan to do that.
