The Great Wall Loop is now open at the FATS. Go ride it.
We need to build two bridges on the Skinny Loop and it will be ready to open.

Great Wall Loop - clockwise or counterclockwise, which do you like better?
So far for me I like CCW. This would be going down at the first junction before the road crossing and climbing the Great Wall Proper (the 108' long section of rock). The DH at the start is just a hoot. There are several big hits in it and several more after you pass the river on the right. And I like the big climb at the end.
And what about the loose rocks! I love those sections. We'll need a "Stay on trail or stay home" sign on the ones folks are creating lines around. To me the loose rocks offer something different from Modoc, Turkey etc.....
Some may say what is harm of a line around them and I say this : creating a line around a technical will put most of the people off the technical feature and onto the line around the techincal feature. It is natural for a rider to follow the line the eye sees without giving it any thought. And if the most "beat down" line is around a technical feature, often it is difficult to stay on the line into the technical feature. It can be done, but it takes extremely good concentration to avoid the line most traveled. So, that's my reasoning for not having the lines around the loose rocks. If a rider never rides the techy features, than the rider will never learn to ride the techy fearutes. We have plenty of "easy" trails - go ride them and please don't dumb down the FATS.
The Great Wall Loop has some "mountain" like features to it - tall backslope, and steep ground falling away on the inside of the trail. It may just be the best loop out there.
