You can go to any one of the shops in town and get a NEW bike with a warranty and a service plan for that price range. For $700 you can get a Shimano Deore level bike with an air sprung fork and disc brakes. Or you can spend your hard earned money on a used bike that comes with nothing but worn parts and the promise of spending more money in the future.

thxs... I'm looking for a little higher end bike than that... looking for Hydrolic disc brakes and a higher end air Fox Fork (like maybe a Fox 32 F100 RL)... I weight 200 lbs, so I need something that won't bottom out on jumps

I just think you want too much bike for the money you are willing to spend. Kinda like I'd like to have a Lexus LS 430, but I drive a Subaru. :-)
I am speaking honestly and not trying to be a dick. I like to think I have a good idea of the market value of bikes.
If I had a bike with hydo disc brakes and a Fox 32F100RL, I wouldn't sell it for $700.
Have you looked on ebay? It is a good place to see what bikes sell for on the open market. It can be a good place to buy a bike, but it is also a good place to get stuck with someone else's junk. I am only recommending ebay as a place to gage the market value of bikes that fit the description you have asked for.
What did Keith Bontrager say....strong, light, something else. You can only pick two. What was that something else?

yeah... yeah... yeah... Strong, Light and Cheap... you can only pick two...
I am only wanting Strong and Cheap... Assuming that since I was going with hard tail it wouldn't be too heavy.
The Bike I was considering was the Trek 6000 ($750) from Outspokin... but was wanting a better front fork than the RS Dart 3
I was posting on here with the chance I might be able see the bike in person and avoid buying someones "piece of junk"
Sorry... didn't mean to cause such an uproar.

I don't have one, but what is great thing about the Fox fork? My first shock was a mag 21, wheel flop was abundant, hated it. Including my current fork (Minute 1 SPV) my last 2 have been Manitou w/the beefed up spring kits, (i'm down to 225lbs). My current fork tracks close to how my Richey fork tracks that's on my rigid bike and if I have bottomed it out it wasn't noticable. Just wondering..... and throwing fuel on the fire.

Jimmy, With all due respect to you seeing as you're one of the "first mountain bikers" in the CSRA; like apes to humans, forks have evolved as well. Fox provides one of the most advanced forks in terms of adjustablity, strength, lightweight, and reliablty. All machined aluminum parts and COMPLETELY made in the USA. Buy a Fox and fugettaboutit. Wth that being said, it's no longer the "only" fork to get. Now that SRAM owns Rock Shox, they have finally got a fork that I'm willing to pay for. Up to this point the only forks I've trusted have been Marzocchi and Fox because they didn't suck. But don't just listen to me, check out www.mtbr.com/reviews/2007_forks/You shouldn't fear technology, you just shouldn't chase it. Regarding your Manitou, all can say is I'm sorry. They have never really been up to snuff when it comes to reliability and performance. However, now that Hayes Bicycle Group has purchased them, theoretically they should get better soon. Hopefully that will give you a little insight as to why Quiver wants one soooo bad.

No uproar. But it seems you asked a question you already knew the answer to.

LOL Yeah, I know all kind of useless information and spent a pile of money on the "new technology". Good example, I have some Bullseye cranks and 3 Girvin flex stems in my old parts My attitude now is "just ride the thing". But seriously thanks for the info. when the time comes I'll have something to think about.

Two questions: 1. Do you still have the Bullseye cranks? 2. Did you really pay for those flex stems??? so sorry

ha,ha ha, Bulleye cranks 178.5, yes conplete with "slop stopper". Flex Stem, for me, at 200lbs plus, it was the best option at the time, lighter and WAY better handling than the Mag 21. Hey, I some of those Scott wrap around mountianbike/triathalon bars. My newest and absolute biggest waste of money, hand down was the dur-ace SPD-R pedal, what a piece of "new technology" junk. Maybe I could open a museum.

178.5mm cranks. WTF!!! I don't believe you're 6'5" are you? Please don't tell me their anodized purple. If so, I know a certain shop owner in Aiken who'd probably love to have them. You should put together a bike consisting of all those parts and show up at the BD next year. We'll start a new class called "What was he thinking". the only requirement is you have to get into an aero tuck on all downhills. Heck, I'll even pay your entry fee.

Remember like forks, mountian bikes have evolved and aren't crank arms determined by inseam and not a person's overall height? My bulleyes are BLACK ............it's my ANSWER bar ends that are PURPLE.
