Excessive rain in the month of December led to widespread flooding across the southeast. Once the J. Thurmond Dam reached flood level the flood gates on the dam were opened (and still are) and that contributed to flooding downstream. The segment of the canal trail closest to the river has flooded and will likely remain flooded for a while. Stay tuned for updates. Floodgates at the dam open> Flooded section of the canal trail (see boardwalk visible in the photo)> Another section of trail flooded>

I would very much appreciate an update if anyone has been out in the last few days.
Thank you in advance!

Trail is in fantastic shape right now. Also, MAJOR KUDOS to Drew from AJBW and the crew he assembled to work out there recently to re-open Razor's Edge. There's two reroutes, and they did a great job of keeping the feel of Razor's Edge. It's tight, a little sketchy, but totally rideable if you're paying attention. I rode it last night, first time riding it in a few years I guess, and it was like catching up with an old friend. I rode it three times, and only made it through clean once, on my first time haha. It still needs a little more work, but it's 95% now, and mostly it just needs wheels.
It's fun, go ride it.

Rode Thursday evening. Trail is in great shape. I am immensely appreciative of the folks who put the time in to get it this way.

Canal trail should be ready to go. I cleared downed trees (except the one on Razor's Edge)and did a little weed eating over the weekend.
