I've been notified by the USFS that they are planning a prescribed burn tomorrow (03.22.13) at Long Cane Horse Trails. If the burn occurs, LCHT will be closed until further notice.

With all the rain the guys have had time to do some regular trail maintenance but right now some areas are under water. With no additional rain the trail should be good to go next weekend!

Long cane trails have missed the rain this week. They're dry and ready to ride.

Even though LC is local to me it's become my favorite trail by far. We've got a great group of guys that maintain it. Since it got prescribe burned this year the trails are as good as it gets. Wide open in alot of areas. It's alittle soft right now as I did a recon ride yesterday to check the conditions. If we don't get anymore moisture it should be nice and fast in a few more days.

Anybody who has never rode this trail is missing out. More sustained downhills than FATS, but not as many woop-de jumps. Well worth the hour drive from Augusta. Theres a 15 mile inner loop and 21 mile outter. Tuesday evenings a big group of riders of all skill levels rides. There was at least 15 vehicles in the parking area last night.

The trail is in awesome shape. We have mowed a few sections recently and put a lot of wheels on it lately so it has a good flow and is fast.

If you haven't been up to check out this trail before, now is the time with it all trimmed and ready to go - totally worth the drive up from Augusta!

L.Cane is on our priority list - can anyone offer a brief trail report, last week or so, for conditions.
Thanks very much,

Rode LCHT about a week and a half ago and it's in great shape! Parked at the "E" point and rode the entire upper loop clockwise, including the spur to the metal bridge. The entire trail was dry, easy to follow and had several logs down, but all were riders for me.

I have ridden it 4 times in the last week. The trail is fantastic right now. Probably the best condition of the whole year. Lots of wheels have been on it, just watch for hogs and deer hunters. I strongly encourage wearing orange and making noise at all clearings.

Thanks all for reports. Yes, "orange" in the wardrobe, will remember 'noise... Take it, lots of hunters up there now. We usually start at A/B, do the upper loop (C-G-F-E-D-C-B), avoiding A-J-I-H-G loop. Plan to ride Tuesday ~ noon. Thanks again.

JP3, Banks, and I rode the lower loop yesterday (actually, we missed a sign and took a wrong turn before getting to the big rock). Other than lots of leaves and a few places where several riders fell within feet of each other, the trail was in great shape. I have to say that the ride was much more enjoyable with the cool weather. We'll have to schedule an EtTR for one of the cooler months next year.

Glad to report that some of us used this weather to do some trail maintenance this morning. I proud to say that the entire loop inner/outer are rideable. We are working to try and reclaim some of the sections that have been pretty much abandonedd for the past few years. Not only did the trails look like a blast it took minimal work to clear them. They will be every bit as good as the trails we pretty much stick to now. So come on out and see the entire 32 miles of very good single track.

Used this weather to our advantage and did some mowing this morning on the trails we did work on the other day plus hit a few spots on the popular trails. With a lot of the trail on high ground and being it keeps a straw/leaf base the trails are looking better every day the sun is out. Still a lot of trail we're staying away from though.

Rode a mix of dirt roads and high ground trails. They could use a few days to dry out.
