I number of you have been following the progress of our new home construction in Franklin, NC. After much delay, the raising of the timber frame occurred in Nov - Dec. I have a biker friend in Dahlonega whose son is an aspiring videographer and he put together this YouTube for us:
We now expect completion in June. In one sequence you will see a couple of stacks of firewood - the trail goes between them. Actually, it's an old horse trail created by a chap who contracted with the USFS to haul out chestnut trees after the blight hit. I did have it cleared but there's a bit of new stuff down now and I haven't had time to (try and) ride it. It leaves our property and extends up into USFS land along the creek I guess about a half mile. It descends in the other direction over steep, technical terrain and one can make a loop out of that part. The entire course is a lollipop configuration and has 8 creek crossings couple of really steep sections, one of which is quite technical.
Our new house sits at 3,400' elevation on a bit over 4 acres and is bordered on 2 sides by the Nantahala Forest.
Reservations begin this summer! Maybe I'll time to get back on the bike - last ride was on Bartram at BikeFest.

Very interesting video! Enjoyed seeing how all the beams fit together, etc. Quite the dream home, and I am looking forward to more pics as construction continues. Nice that you have access to USFS property and a bike trail.

Wow Dale, that's quite a project. Nice video also. We'll have to visit when it's done. How close are you to Salai? Good luck on the completion
