FYI Today in the Edgefield Daily
Thief Breaks into Car at Lick Fork Lake
web posted November 26, 2013 WESTSIDE – A Merriwether woman taking her dogs for a walk around Lick Fork Lake Sunday morning arrived back at her car to discover a window busted out, her pocketbook gone and at least $1,500 in damages to the car. The woman told deputies she arrived around 10 am and discovered the theft just before noon.
According to an incident report, the woman's Coach purse, wallet, and sunglasses case were gone in addition to several credit cards, a debit card and gift cards. Total value was placed at $900.
A deputy recovered a silver trailer hitch bolt laying in the floorboard that was apparently used to break the passenger side window of the Honda Civic. It was processed for evidence and seized.
The driver's side door panel was also damaged for an unknown reason. Total damages to the car was listed at $1,500.
There have been reports of a homeless man living in the woods around the area.
The case has been turned over to the Edgefield Count Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
Visitors at the lake are advised to remove valuables from your car while left unattended in the area.

Visitors at the lake are advised to remove valuables from your car while left unattended in the area. ^^That's good advice for any parking lot anywhere, including your own driveway.

We supervised an Eagle Scout Project today to replace one bridge and remove another bridge on section 2 of Horn Creek. Pictures of the project can be seen on our Facebook page (no login required) at goo.gl/qiyNRE.

We rode the entire loop today. Heavy leaf cover and slippery roots. Some winter blow down that needs clearing this spring but nothing overly frustrating or extreme.

Trail is, as usual, a fun, fun loop. As mentioned, there are a couple of trees down, but the majority are riders (even for me), and those that are not riders are easy to drag your bike over. No water on the trail, no mud. Tons of leaves, but those sound awesome under the tires. We'll get out there soon for some trail work, but the trail is fun as it sits also.
Kudos to all the trail work done here keeping this trail viable. The most recent work done by the Eagle Scout project is quality. Nice to have the one bridge replaced, and the other shorter one totally removed.
