Thanks brianW. I think I'll venture out there tomorrow morning and see what it looks like. Rode Boyd Pond with a buddy today and it was in really good condition. I'll post an update on trail conditions for those that may be interested.

Heavy briars on section 2 and 4. Rinse the blood off after the ride.

There's also a bridge around the 2.5 mile marker that is looking a little beat up but it is still rideable. Yes, that's what Paul and I were doing before we saw you at the pay station/kiosk. As part of an Eagle Scout Project, the bridge in your picture will be replaced and the remnants of another nearby bridge removed (and the ditch reshaped). Bridge that will be rebuilt. Bridge that will be removed.

I rode this afternoon and the trail is in pretty good shape and mostly dry now. There are 2 small areas (maybe 6 feet) in section 4 that are soft and muddy. There's also a soft spot right before you cross the first gravel road. There's a new tree down just to the left of the trail head before the rock section.

I rode three laps today and agree with Troy. The trail has dried out pretty well. But, the briars have gotten nasty in sections. I took care of the small tree in the first section and a couple of others with my pack saw. Just couldn't touch the large tree that fell along the trail about 3/4 mile in. That'll take a real saw.

Thank you. We've got Horn Creek on the list for mowing and downed trees.

Thanks for the info. We will get out there within a couple of weeks with the DR mower and get the briars in sections 2 and 4 cut out. Just been kinda busy the last few weekends. The tree will get cut out also. MD

Bryce and I used the DR mowers and took care of sections 2 and 4 Friday. The patches of briars in section 2 took up to four passes just to get them back far enough. One tree down in section 2 which I am sure azdrawdy will get to. The water near the concrete bridge is 15 to 20ft from the trail and explains the HUGE water moccasin that was sunning himself in the trail. Big props to Bryce for giving up one of his last Fridays before school starts to volunteer his time and efforts.

Rode here on Friday, aug 23. Trail in good shape. Very little mud. Cant imagine what it looked like before the DR mower in the clearcut section (4?), I bet unridable. Did a lap CCW first, then CW. Think I'll stick to CW from now on. The trail track goes away in the clearcut section (follow the mower path). Maybe with FATS closed this week it'll get rode in better.

To those who didn't have the opportunity to ride today, I feel sorry for you. To those who sacrificed the day to do some much needed trail work, you are heros. To those who chose not to ride because FATS is closed, your loss. I decided to ride some laps of Horne Creek today to inspect the recent work, and glad I did. The weather was perfect, the trail was all good, except for a few trees down on sections 1 & 2. And special thanks to whoever was riding ahead of me and cleared the spiders.

Rode the trail today. 3 trees down that are I not rideable. I also stopped for some bridges that looked unsafe. The trail appeared to be in good condition. I haven't BEN riding on Lick Fork for about 4 yrs. it was pretty much as I remember it.

As we get closer to BD 2013, be sure to post or send me a mesage about trail condition after your practice laps.

Rode the trail last Sunday 9/22. There was one "new" tree down in the fast section just before the first bridge (cw). It put me over on my head.

Morning ride today, trail is in great shape. Several trees down (probably about 6) spaced pretty evenly throughout sections 2 & 3, several are riders for me, but some will probably need to be cut out, and I don't have the exact locations of these trees.
The bridge that is slated to be replaced is looking pretty rough. It appears to have shifted since my last ride and seems to have a bounce and is leaning and may cause some problems for the race. I didn't look at it closely, but I imagine a temporary fix for the race will probably solve this issue.
If anybody is heading out to do any work on the trail, I may be available depending on my work schedule. Let me know.

Lick Fork Recreation Area/Horn Creek Trail is officially closed during the government shutdown.
Horn Creek/Lick Fork Recreation Area is considered a developed recreation area (toilets, water), so it is officially closed during the government shutdown. Since this is an official closure, you can be ticketed and/or fined if caught trespassing.
Undeveloped trails like Modoc, Wine, and Turkey will remain open during the shutdown.
Don't risk a ticket by poaching Horn Creek Trail. We'll update with new information as it comes our way.
Thank you for your support.

Three of us rode Horn last week reversed. Generally good but significant number of non riders from recent big winds. Also downed leaves in some areas really thick. Again just needs some traffic! Still beautiful colors.
