Our December Explore the Trail Ride will be held at the Augusta Canal Mountain Bike Trail - Saturday, December 3rd at 1pm. This is Augusta's only urban mountain bike trail and for years before Bartram and FATS was the trail of choice when riders in Augusta headed for a quick ride (and it is still the trail of choice for many who live in close proximity). If you haven't ridden it before or just want to come out and enjoy a fun ride with other mountain bikers please join us.
We will meet at the railroad tracks near the Augusta Pumping Station at 1pm - that will make it convenient for people to join us from the Sibley Mill, Eisenhower Park, or Savannah Rapids Pavilion input points.
This ride is suitable for novice riders as well but if you have family members who prefer - come ride the trail while other family members or friends ride the Augusta Canal Towpath (from the meeting point it would be a 3.5 mile ride up to the Augusta Canal headgates).
This trail is approximately 3 miles long and the site of the annual Canal Crown Time Trial Series - come check it out!

The canal trail is a LOT of fun. Full of tight corners, short rises and falls in the trail, a few short, steep, rooty technical climbs. It's a trail that becomes more fun as you learn your way around. Knowing where to get on the gas, how late you can brake going into a corner, which corners have berms you can rail, which ones are off camber and loose, and looking for the fastest line thru a series of tight corners - it's good fun! It's a trail that going fast is as much about bike handling as it is fitness.
If you want a rush, pair up with someone who knows the trail well and is fast and try your hardest to stay on their wheel. You'll likely learn that your bike can corner a lot harder than you realized.
I hope to make it, but we might be out of town that weekend.

Aside from Boyd, the most strenuous 2.5 miles around here, if you push hard. You can make of it what you want.

Just a reminder that the ETTR ride is this weekend at the canal trail! I hope to be there, but still not sure.

The time for this ride has changed to 1:30pm.We have been invited to attend a luncheon and meeting of WheelMovement, a bicycle advocacy group, prior to our ride (there will be a road ride prior to the luncheon), several members have expressed interest in attending. If you would like to attend, be at the Enterprise Mill at 11:15 to 11:30am on Saturday. Some of us plan to ride to the MTB trail from Enterprise Mill afterward - here is the link with information www.wheelmovement.blogspot.com/

I'm in for the ride, and will meet at enterprise mill. I wont be able to make the wheel movement meeting though, wish I could.
I'll be leaving the mill at 1:00 if anyone wants to join me. Parking in the lot in front of the mill, off St. Sebastian.
Angela - the newletter you sent out last night looks great!

Thank you Dustin - it's been needing an overhaul for quite a while! I'll post up top in case anyone had trouble receiving it.
