That should not be a problem we've been spreading the word and the poster will go up in the bike shops over the weekend and we've already heard from others who are interested! Hopefully will be great weather, perfect trail to take the kids on, and a cookout afterward.........if we get good response would love this to be an annual event! IMBA has committed to get 30,000 kids out on bikes for Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day would be great if we can have enough participation to do our part in helping reach that goal!

Please be sure and email David if you plan to bring your kids to the Take A Kid Mountain Biking ride on October 1st, there will be a cookout afterward and we don't want any disappointed kids if there isn't enough food for them!! Also helps to have a count so we know how many volunteers to have on hand for the event! To register, email number of people attending - takmbd@comcast.net

The work party at the Bartram included some lopping and DR mowing on the trail........the primary focus was cutting along the airstrip that had become so overgrown that the weeds left only a slender ribbon of trail across that section since the weeds were up to 4 feet high and right to the edge of the trail. They even seriously cut back those vicious stickers that grow along that section and can shred the skin on your arm in second. The trail is ready for Take a Kid Mountain Biking next Saturday!

This should be a great event, looks like the high on Saturday will be in the 70's so perfect riding weather, we have some water, sports drinks, and power bars that were donated after the Ironman yesterday that we will use for this event. Be sure and spread the word and don't forget to email if you are planning to attend - this could well become an annual event if we get good participation! Email David T at takmbd@comcast.net to pre-register!

Hate that you might miss it but if everyone I have heard talking about bringing their kids out signs up and comes out it will be a well-attended event and probably destined to become an annual event and we'll see you next time!

I have had several email information about attending. I am looking forward to this. If everyone who has emailed or mentioned coming on the forum does come, I think we will have close to 30 kids.
I also had the flyer sent out to all the schools in Columbia County and I have received a little response from it too.
I have kids registered who are both experienced and inexperienced mountain bikers. It will be fun.

Great day for a mountain bike ride! Only one of the young mountain bikers had been out on a real mountain bike trail before but they were all troopers riding the 9 miles from Petersburg trailhead to Lake Springs and back. Thanks so much to David T for spearheading this great event - hopefully it will be an annual event that will double in attendance each year. Getting the riders ready to go! The riders! Some of the SORBA-CSRA National Mountain Bike Patrol lent a hand. SAG stop at the Lake Springs turnaround point... If you missed this event or are eager for more come out for the Fall Bikefest on Saturday, November 5th. Here is the link to the photobucket for these photos, others also took photos and they will be posted soon also. photobucket.com/takeakidmountainbiking
