Thinking about doing the Modoc/Turkey Creampuff loop this weekend. Anyone interested? Meet at the Modoc trailhead at 7am Saturday morning. Let me know if you're coming - reply here or hit me up with an e-mail dgaddis 12 at gmail dot com. Intermediate pace, not fast, but not too many stops. Not sure which direction we'll ride the loop....

Wine Creek is so good right now, it would be a shame to miss that trail.
Any shot of a point to point, shuttle? 23 to 283, or the other way?
I did the 24 mile Turkey/Wine and started about 8:30 yesterday. I wouldn't have wanted to be out there much later than that.
I am not sure I can make it, I am just talking out loud.

We could maybe do that...just depends on who all wants to go I guess.
I def. want to ride Modoc this weekend since the skills clinic is next weekend.
I'm planning on hitting Wine early Sunday AM before church with a newbie friend of mine, he's only ridden FATS and the canal so far I think.

We're looking at doing this as a 1-way ride, Hwy 23 to Hwy 283 via Modoc/Turkey/Wine. About 27 miles.
If you're coming....let us know so we can plan the shuttle and where everyone needs to meet!

I don't think that I am going to have time to do the loop or ride all the way to Wine, but I don't know about Money. I plan to ride Modoc, ride towards Turkey, and when it seems like time to turn around and ride back to the lot and go home, that is what I will do.
I think it is going to be too hot to ride very hard, so doing the loop (at least for this Clydesdale) would take a loooong time.

Money - give me a call if you plan to shuttle, otherwise we'll see you at the Modoc lot.

Enjoyed the few miles I rode and believe it or not enjoyed my walk out. Really see the trail different when walking. At firstIi thought my cleat wasn't locking in, like I had a small rock or something in it, than my crank almost fell off. first time that ever happened to me. think it got lose on a spill I had. before the spill it felt normal.

That was great. Setting up the shuttle is easy, and it's not terrible going back to get the car at Modoc.
Mark and I split off at the end of Modoc. We rode up the hill, hard right back onto the powerlines and rode towards the creek. We were looking for the old end of the Modoc trail....where it used to come out on the powerlines. We never found it for sure, but have a good idea where it is. We did find the old "TJ's route" and it is awesome.
We struggled in tall grass/weeds/briars on the powerlines, then finally turned left onto an old gravel road that is now about covered in ankle-to-waist high vegetation. But there is a line under it, and my main concern was hitting a down tree at speed that I never even saw because of the tall grass. Luckily that didn't happen.
Great ride on an old route that was like seeing an old friend for the first time in a long time.
I may go do it the other way tomorrow.

+1 great day in the woods. Good crowd today too, 8 of us total I think it was? I always forget how much fun Turkey Creek is. There's no particular feature that is very memorable to me, but the whole trail just flows on and on and on, it's super fun. Wine was great as well. Both trails need wheels, go ride 'em folks.
I cleaned all of the ditches in Modoc except for one, and cleaned all the rocky sections on Wine. Good day.
Riding Wine again tomorrow with a friend who's fairly new to the sport, starting at Key Bridge @ ~7:15. Everyone is welcome to join.

Great ride, thanks for organizing it dgaddis. Good pace and that's the furthest I've ridden in a very long time!
