i rode sunday afternoon. was crusing down the backside of deep step in a world of pure bliss - my joy came to an abrupt end when i looked down and both tires were totally flat within about 2 minutes. LOL. *censored words* I couldnt find anything wrong with my tires, but you know how that goes - one tiny pin hole and its over. After getting home i realized what happened, i rode over a thorn bush or something? These are just a few of the items i dug out of my tires (not the nickel , that would be weird)

Ted,
That quote is priceless.
Used to get flats all the time at FATS when I first started riding. When I got two in one ride I switched to tubeless. Year and a half since then and not one flat.
Rode Bartram last night with 5 guys. 4 tubeless and 1 with tubes. 6 miles in guess who has a flat and no spare tube. He was lucky one of the tubeless guys had a tube on him or he would have had a 6 mile walk back.
Go tubeless. Ghetto or otherwise. You won't be sorry!

The stuff works. Many, if not most, are using stans' sealant now. I haven't flatted in 2 years. The conversion kit which contains the rim strips and a container of sealant is about $70. Check out the demos at notubes.com.

Neal, you can skip the rim strip (expensive) and use a tubless presta valve and stan's yellow tape or electrical tape. Of course you need sealant. Two scoops and no flats. Have been using the stuff for years. Every few months check to be sure the sealant does not dry out. Couple few bucks for the valves and sealant should run about 16-20 bucks for a quart good for a 16 changes.
